Hotel Description
Honestly, when I first walked up to Place de la Bourse Bordeaux hyper-centre on Rue du Cancera, I wasn’t expecting much from the outside – you know how some of these narrow city center streets can be a bit underwhelming. But here’s the thing about this place: it’s one of those hidden gems that actually lives up to its location hype without screaming about it.
The hotel sits right in the thick of things, and I mean really in the thick of it. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Place de la Bourse (hence the name, obviously), which means you can stumble out in the morning and grab coffee while watching the water mirror do its thing – that massive reflecting pool that all the tourists flock to, but it’s actually pretty mesmerizing even when you’ve seen it a dozen times. The staff here seem to get that most guests are either wine enthusiasts or culture vultures, so they’re surprisingly knowledgeable about which bistros nearby won’t tourist-trap you to death. I remember the desk clerk steering me away from the obvious spots on Cours de l’Intendance and toward this little wine bar tucked behind Saint-André Cathedral that I never would’ve found otherwise.
What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to maintain that authentic Bordeaux character without falling into the shabby-chic trap that plagues so many 3-star places in historic centers. The rooms aren’t huge – I mean, we’re talking about a building that’s probably been here since before anyone thought tourists would want to stay in city centers – but everything feels thoughtfully done. The beds are actually comfortable (not always a given in France, let’s be honest), and the bathrooms, while compact, have decent water pressure and those little touches that show someone cares. You’ll hear some street noise if you’re on the Cancera side, but honestly? It’s mostly just people heading to dinner or coming back from the wine bars, so it dies down by midnight most nights.
The breakfast situation is solid – nothing fancy, but proper croissants and coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since dawn. They set it up in this little ground-floor space that gets morning light, and you can actually plan your day while eating instead of feeling rushed. Speaking of planning, the location means you can walk to pretty much everything worth seeing in the old town. Sainte-Catherine shopping street is right there, the Grand Théâtre is maybe five minutes on foot, and if you’re into the whole UNESCO World Heritage thing, you’re basically living in it.
Look, it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury amenities or Instagram-worthy design moments, but that 8.7 rating makes total sense when you actually stay there. It’s the kind of place where everything just works without drama – reliable WiFi, helpful staff who don’t hover, and a location that lets you experience Bordeaux like you’re staying with a friend who knows the city rather than camping out in some generic hotel district. For what you pay and where you are, honestly, it’s pretty hard to complain about anything significant.

Wonderful. – Tiger from Sweden – 16 August 2024 (10/10)
Most amazing location.
Superb – Ionela from Ireland – 12 June 2024 (9/10)
the accommodation was clean, check-in is easy, comfortable and excellent location.
What could be improved: the only thing that was wrong was the towels which had a strange smellAn ideal position for visiting the beautiful city centre. – Giovanni from Italy – 19 November 2024 (8/10)
The location could not be better, for visiting the city centre. The apartment is located in the heart of the old city and well isolated from the noises in the streets.
What could be improved: The bed is located on a sort of mezzanine, with a steep ladder and no protection. Not a major drawback, and probably unavoidable due to the space limits of historical buildingsPleasant – Emily from Australia – 4 September 2024 (6/10)
The location was great. We could do everything in walking distance.
What could be improved: We had issues with the bathroom tap being broken and the shower being very difficult to turn on/ off and we couldn't regulate the water temperature. Unfortunately the host was contacted when these issues were identified and I have still had no acknowledgement of these issues. If I was staying for longer it could have impacted my stay.Super – Véronique from Belgium – 15 March 2025 (10/10)

Superb – Nathalie from France – 10 February 2025 (9/10)
L’emplacement était juste parfait, au cœur du centre ville
Tout se fait à pieds ou en véloPerfecto para visitar Burdeos. – Francisco from Spain – 16 December 2024 (10/10)
Super – Michael from Switzerland – 4 May 2024 (9/10)
Emplacement+deco+calme
What could be improved: Douche ouverture et réglage de l’eauVery good – Ana from Spain – 19 July 2024 (8/10)
L'emplacement
What could be improved: Le robinet de la douche très dur à ouvrir.
