Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Bordeaux, but theSocial Liveur in Les Chartrons hit different – and I mean that in the best way possible. You know how some hotels try so hard to be “social” that it feels forced? This isn’t that. The moment you walk into this converted warehouse space on Avenue Emile Counord, there’s this immediate sense that whoever designed this place actually gets what modern travelers want. The lobby feels more like a friend’s incredibly well-designed apartment than a hotel reception, with these massive windows letting in all that gorgeous Bordeaux light and furniture that’s actually comfortable (not just Instagram-worthy, though it definitely is that too).

What really sold me on this place – honestly – is how perfectly it sits in Les Chartrons. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of what used to be Bordeaux’s wine merchant district, and you can still feel that history in the cobblestones outside your window. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize: this neighborhood is having this incredible renaissance moment. You’ve got these fantastic wine bars like La Winery just a few blocks down, and honestly, some of the best antique shopping in the city is right on your doorstep along Rue Notre-Dame. The hotel staff – who actually seem to live in Bordeaux, not just work there – pointed me toward this tiny café on Cours Portal that I never would’ve found otherwise. That’s the kind of local knowledge that makes a 9.7 rating make sense, you know?

The rooms themselves are… well, they’re what happens when someone actually thinks about how people live and travel now. Big windows (seriously, the light in the morning is incredible), proper workspace if you need to get stuff done, and – this might sound weird – but the shower pressure is phenomenal. I’ve learned not to take these things for granted after too many disappointing European hotel stays. The whole vibe is sort of industrial-chic but warm, if that makes sense? Exposed brick and concrete, but with these touches that keep it from feeling cold. Plus, you’re close enough to the Garonne that you can actually walk down to the river for a morning jog – something I definitely didn’t expect to be doing in Bordeaux, but the riverfront path is surprisingly lovely. The only tiny thing I’d mention is that if you’re a super light sleeper, the trams run pretty regularly on the main avenue, though honestly, it’s more of a gentle rumble than anything jarring. For me, it was actually kind of nice – reminded me I was in a real, living city rather than some sanitized tourist bubble.

  Stayed here for 5 days and the place was unbelievable. 4 separate bedrooms with ensuites downstairs shaped like a U with a couryard between. A Living area upstairs, kitchen abd dining room along with a balcony looking over the courtyard. Amazing value for money. A short walk away from some of the famous sites but every street and sidestreet is beautiful along the walks .

  El apartamento muy amplio y con decoracion muy bonita. Todo muy nuevo y limpio. Con todas las comodades. Mi apartamento tenia 4 habitaciones cada una con su baño lo cual hizo la estancia muy comoda para mi grupo.Aparcamiento en el mismo edificio con plaza muy grande. Zona tranquila y al lado de la parada del tranvia.
