Hotel Description

Honestly, when I first walked up to 55 Rue Saint-Rémi, I wasn’t sure what to expect – the street itself is one of those narrow cobblestone ones that makes you wonder if your Uber driver is completely lost. But that’s actually part of the charm here. This two-bedroom apartment sits right in the heart of Bordeaux’s old quarter, and I mean *right* in the heart – you’re literally a three-minute walk from Place du Parlement, where all the good wine bars spill out onto those gorgeous 18th-century squares.

The apartment itself feels like someone’s actual home, which is refreshing after staying in cookie-cutter hotel rooms. The ceilings are high (typical Bordeaux style), and there’s this mix of old architectural details with modern touches that works surprisingly well. The kitchen is properly equipped – I’m talking real coffee maker, not some sad pod machine – and the bedrooms are spacious enough that you won’t feel like you’re bunking in a hostel. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, despite being so central. Sure, you’ll hear some foot traffic during the day, especially when the Saturday market crowds are heading to and from Marché des Capucins, but honestly that just adds to the authentic city vibe.

You know what really sold me on this place? The location knowledge you get just by staying here. Your morning coffee run takes you past some of the best bakeries in the Saint-Pierre district, and you’ll discover that little wine shop on Rue des Bahutiers that locals actually use (not the touristy ones near the cathedral). The tram stop at Place du Palais is maybe a seven-minute walk, so getting out to the wine regions or even just across town is dead simple. I mean, parking in this area is basically impossible if you’re driving, but that’s true for most of central Bordeaux anyway – you’re better off ditching the car and walking everywhere. The apartment isn’t luxury level – it’s a solid 3-star situation – but everything works, it’s clean, and the beds are actually comfortable. Sometimes that’s all you need when you’re spending most of your day exploring those incredible wine caves along the Garonne or getting lost in the antique shops around Rue Notre-Dame.

Early hotels booking in Bordeaux is essential during major events like the Wine Festival, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned vineyards and gastronomy.
