Hotel Description
So I stumbled across this little studio apartment in Chartrons – you know, that artsy district north of central Bordeaux where all the antique dealers and wine bars hang out. The place is tucked away on rue Saint-Hubert, which honestly took me a minute to find the first time because it’s one of those narrow streets that feels more residential than touristy (in a good way).
The studio itself is exactly what you’d expect from a 4-star place in this neighborhood – clean, modern, with that minimalist French aesthetic that somehow makes even a small space feel sophisticated. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stayed, even on weekend nights when the bars along cours de la Marne were getting lively. The windows are decent quality, and since you’re tucked back from the main drag, you don’t get that typical city noise. Actually, the most I heard was the occasional clatter of bottles from the wine shops below – sort of charming, really. The kitchen setup is pretty functional too, which matters if you’re planning to grab fresh stuff from the Saturday market at Place des Chartrons (maybe a 3-minute walk, tops).
Here’s what really sold me on the location though – you’re literally surrounded by some of the best wine bars in Bordeaux, but you can also walk to the tram stop on cours du Médoc in about 5 minutes and be downtown in no time. I mean, Chartrons has this perfect balance where it feels authentically local but isn’t completely cut off from everything else. The street itself has this lived-in vibe with actual residents going about their daily business, not just tourists wandering around looking lost. Parking can be a bit tricky – there’s street parking but it fills up fast, especially during market days. I’d honestly recommend the tram anyway since driving in central Bordeaux is sort of a nightmare. The check-in process was straightforward enough, though I did have to coordinate timing since it’s not a traditional hotel setup. One small thing – the shower pressure could be better, but that seems to be pretty standard for older buildings in this part of the city. Overall though, with an 8.8 rating, this place delivers exactly what it promises: a comfortable, well-located base for exploring Bordeaux without the sterile hotel feeling. If you want to feel like you’re actually staying in the city rather than just visiting it, this studio hits that sweet spot perfectly.

The apartment is very comfortable and well-equipped, in an attractive and quiet part of town. Shops and restaurants are a short walk away, as is the tram into the city centre. Comfortable and roomy apartment in a quiet location with great kitchen facilities. We loved the location and felt like locals! Short tram ride into the centre of Bordeaux. Fabulous boulangerie down the road from the apartment and other eating options nearby. The breakfast and snacks provided were a lovely touch and much appreciated. Thank you Sandra!

The place was great, very cozy, very good location. And the host left us some things for breakfast, which was unexpectedly nice!
What could be improved: Maybe the only minus was the fact that we could use only the air conditioning for warming. The radiator wasn’t working. But overall wasn’t really an issue.
