Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about Residhome Bordeaux? The location is actually brilliant – and I say that as someone who’s usually skeptical of hotels in “up-and-coming” areas. Sure, 87 Quai Bacalan isn’t exactly Place de la Bourse, but honestly, that’s part of its charm. The Chartrons district has this whole industrial-chic thing happening, and you’re literally steps from the Garonne with these incredible river views that most tourists never see. I mean, you can walk to the wine museum in about five minutes, and there’s this fantastic Sunday market on Quai des Chartrons that locals actually go to – not just the tourist trap stuff.
The aparthotel itself feels more grown-up than your typical 3-star place. The rooms are proper studio apartments with little kitchenettes, which honestly saved me a fortune since Bordeaux restaurants can get pricey fast. The design is clean and modern without being sterile – sort of that Scandinavian-meets-French thing that actually works. What I really appreciated was the soundproofing; even though you’re on a busy quai, the river-facing rooms stay surprisingly quiet at night. The staff genuinely knows their stuff too – they pointed me toward this incredible wine bar on Rue Notre Dame that I never would’ve found otherwise. Check-in was smooth (they actually remembered I was arriving late), and the front desk folks speak proper English, not just tourist-level phrases.
Here’s the thing though – and this might matter depending on what you’re after – this isn’t really a “pop in for one night” kind of place. The whole setup encourages you to settle in a bit, maybe grab groceries from the Monoprix down the street, actually use that little balcony if you’re lucky enough to snag a room with one. The tram’s right there on Cours du Médoc, so getting into the old town takes maybe fifteen minutes, but you start to realize the Chartrons has its own rhythm that’s pretty addictive. There are these great bistros tucked into converted warehouses, and the whole area feels like it’s buzzing with energy without being overwhelming. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle – there’s a garage nearby but it fills up during wine season (basically September through November), so maybe factor that in. But honestly, with an 8.9 rating, this place is doing something right, and after staying there, I get it. It’s one of those spots that feels like a bit of a local secret, even though it probably won’t stay that way much longer.
Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Bordeaux through local agencies that offer personalized recommendations and insider knowledge about the best neighborhoods for exploring the city’s rich cultural heritage.

Well situated, underground parking, close to Lidl supermarket, Marché des Quais on Sundays and historic areas which we enjoyed, as well as the Cité du Vin museum at 5 minutes from apartement. Very clean and well equipped kitchen. Breakfast is offered if you wish to pay for it on main floor restaurant.

Comfortable hotel, very close to the citè du vin, the esplanade along the river, the cruise boats. There are some restaurants not too far away and the tram right across the road.

The property is situated perfectly. Being in the cité du vin quarter it is just in front of a tramway station that takes you anywhere in the city. It is also next to a river promenade that is full of cafes and restaurants. The staff are really nice and helpful. We were able to change our ground floor rim to a room with a beautiful view on the river. Our 4 days stay in Bordeaux was really pleasant.
