Hotel Description
So I’ve stayed at LA Sainte Catherine 264 a few times now, and honestly? It’s one of those places that just gets Bordeaux right. You’re smack in the middle of Rue Sainte-Catherine – which, if you don’t know, is basically the main shopping artery that cuts through the old city. I mean, it’s pedestrian-only, so you’re not dealing with car noise, but there’s definitely a buzz during the day with all the foot traffic and street performers.
The thing about this hotel is that it actually feels like someone put thought into the design without trying too hard to be trendy. The lobby has this understated elegance – kind of modern but with nods to the classic Bordeaux architecture you see everywhere in the historic center. Check-in was smooth both times I’ve been there, and the staff genuinely seems to know the city well. Last time, the front desk guy gave me directions to this little wine bar on Rue du Pas-Saint-Georges that I never would’ve found otherwise. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – clean lines, good lighting, comfortable beds that don’t feel like they came from a chain hotel catalog. The bathrooms are surprisingly spacious for a building that’s obviously been here a while, and the water pressure is actually decent (you know how hit-or-miss that can be in European city centers).
What really makes this place work is the location – you can walk to Place de la Bourse in about ten minutes, and the tram stops right at the end of the street if you want to head out to the wine regions or the newer parts of town. But honestly, you probably won’t need to leave the neighborhood much. There’s this amazing little fromagerie just two blocks down, and if you head toward the Garonne, you’ll hit all those wine bars that locals actually go to, not just the touristy ones. The hotel sits in that sweet spot where you’re close enough to everything but tucked away enough that you can actually sleep at night – though I’d maybe ask for a room facing the courtyard if you’re a really light sleeper, since Sainte-Catherine can get a bit lively on weekend evenings. Parking is… well, it’s a city center, so don’t expect miracles, but there’s a public garage about a five-minute walk away. The 8.7 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Bordeaux, but it does everything well and the location is honestly hard to beat if you want to feel like you’re actually experiencing the city rather than just visiting it.

The appartment was very well equipped, clean and having plenty of space. I loved the sound system paired with the TV!
What could be improved: It's a bit noisy because of the bars in the neighborhood but still the appartment has noise proof windows.Great apartment. – Jana from Australia – 8 March 2024 (9/10)

Very modern and well decorated. Great location, in walking distance to everything
What could be improved: Due to the central location there was a lot of noise from the streets. The doors/windows did not filter any of itGreat Accommodation but Extremely Noisy – Richard from Australia – 29 September 2023 (8/10)
The loft apartment was new and looked really cool, great shower and bathroom. The air-conditioning was powerful.
It was great having a washing machine and a kitchen
What could be improved: The couch was not comfortable to sit down on after being out all day. Visually the apartment is great but functionally it is a bit difficult. The loft bed was a little small for two people and going up and down the stairs to the bed took some getting used to as it is quite treacherous at night.
The main issue we had with the apartment was the noise. There is a row of bars directly beneath the windows of the apartment. We were staying over the weekend and the noise was extremely loud until very early in the morning. We had to go to the local supermarket and buy ear plugs so we could sleep.
We saw the previous reviews about the noise and thought they may have been referring to other residents making noise but this was over 100 people drinking, shouting and cheering on the street. If you plan on going out all night and sleeping all day then this place would be perfect. If you want to get good quality sleep each night I would recommend looking elsewhere.a perfect bolt hole for a short break in Bordeaux – Niamh from United Kingdom – 30 July 2022 (9/10)
fantastic location. julien was helpful and considerate. Air con !!
What could be improved: nothingGreat place – Marguerite from Netherlands – 13 June 2024 (8/10)
The location is great! Appartment is neat and comfy and has all you need for a stay in the city.
What could be improved: The appartment is a bit noisy in the weekends, because it's on a square where people go out. So you can't sleep with the windows open. There is airco however.goede locatie – J from Netherlands – 8 January 2024 (9/10)
beautiful apartment where they have made good use of the limited space.
in the "start" of the old city, where you can not drive by car.
There is a V3 parking nearby (public transport bicycle parking) where you can rent a bicycle for arround 5 euros per day!
What could be improved: -there was no toilet paper,
-just 2 cups for coffee,
-address of the parking wasn't so clear…We had a superb stay, thanks to Bordeaux and the quality and cleanliness of the apartment. – Peter from Australia – 7 October 2023 (10/10)
Superb location. Pity about the stairs to the mezzanine, though.
What could be improved: That staircase gets tricky during a 3am toilet visit.
