Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “Charmant studio rénové et climatisé,” I figured it was just another overly French way of saying “we have AC and painted the walls recently.” But walking into this little ground-floor studio on Place André Meunier dit Mureine actually surprised me. The renovation work here is legit – they didn’t just slap some IKEA furniture in and call it a day.

The location is what really sold me, though. You’re basically tucked into this quiet residential square that most tourists never stumble across, which means you get to feel like an actual Bordeaux resident for a few days. It’s maybe a ten-minute walk to the main shopping streets, but honestly, I loved having that buffer zone. The morning routine became grabbing coffee from the little café around the corner (the barista started recognizing me by day three) and then wandering toward the city center when I felt like it. Parking was surprisingly manageable too – there’s street parking right on the square, and unlike some areas closer to the cathedral, you’re not circling for twenty minutes looking for a spot.

What I appreciated most was how quiet it stays at night. I mean, you’re still in the city, so there’s the occasional scooter or late-night conversation drifting up from the square, but nothing like the chaos you’d get near Place de la Victoire. The AC actually works properly (not always a given in these older buildings), which was clutch during that heat wave in July. The studio itself feels bigger than the photos suggest – maybe it’s the way they positioned the bed and the little kitchen area, but I never felt cramped. There’s this nice natural light that comes through in the morning, and honestly, the whole vibe reminded me more of staying at a friend’s place than a typical hotel room. The 8.6 rating makes sense to me – it’s not luxury, but everything works the way it should, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want. If you’re the type who needs a concierge and room service, this isn’t your spot. But if you want a clean, comfortable base in a neighborhood where you’ll actually hear French being spoken more than English, you’ll probably love it here.

Reviews

  • Highly recommend – Juliette from Czech Republic – 18 July 2025 (10/10)

Cozy apartment. Perfectly clean, air conditioned and quiet. Everything was absolutely perfect. We will come back when we can.

What could be improved: All was great

  • We enjoyed the apartment so we booked an extra night – Catherine from Australia – 18 May 2025 (8/10)

Compact apartment on the ground floor. Close to public transport

  • Great option – Filipe from Portugal – 7 February 2023 (9/10)

The place had everything needed to enjoy a nice stay. It's cozy, the A/C works well, and the windows are really nice as it blocks completely all the outside noise, even if it's located in a busy area. Easy to get in and out. Super convenient location (although there was a ton of construction work being done on the street outside).

What could be improved: Although the place was clean enough, it could be better. There was some dust and debris on the ground in some spots, so we had to use the vacuum cleaner to get rid of it. Kitchen is nice, but the tea kettle is on its last legs, the inside lining was coming off which doesn't make it safe for use.

  • Modern, very tasteful interior in excellent location. Looking forward to coming back! – Anders from Sweden – 1 November 2022 (9/10)

So recently renovated – with great taste ! – that the whole place still felt brand new, although in a charming old setting. Top class sound isolation towards street and excellent set of kitchen equipment. Short walking distance to train station, riverside walk, food market and historic center. Just great!

    What could be improved: ——

  • Very good – Angelika from Luxembourg – 26 June 2024 (8/10)

Self check in, apartment was small but seemed newly renovated, had all the amenities needed

What could be improved: Location was very close to main atractions hovewer not a super safe area for walking around in the late evening or night, especially if you are group of girls

  • Bordeaux studio – Gordon from United Kingdom – 26 October 2023 (8/10)

Well organised arrival and departure. Very clean and quiet, ac efficient. Comfortable double bed. Very good bathroom, shower etc.

What could be improved: Sofa(bed) in living room area not so comfortable used as sofa. Restricted room for movement and luggage storage in double bed area (unavoidable given size).

  • Good – Malcolm from United Kingdom – 15 October 2023 (7/10)

Nice owner who was very helpful. Good facilities and fit out. Good central location.

What could be improved: Smallish but I suspect all of Bordeaux is the same.

  • Quick stay accommodation with washing machine – Glenys from Australia – 20 July 2023 (5/10)

Washing/ dryer machine – the main reason I booked this apartment.
Ground level so easy with luggage.

What could be improved: The studio was promoted as a one bedroom apartment but it really was a studio divided into a living/ dining/ sofa bed area and a bed area – without a full wall or door between the areas. It was ok on my own but I would not recommend it for 2 couples even though it is promoted to take up to 4 people. The bathroom was off the bed area.
At Euro 157 per night I did not feel it was good value given I had stayed previous nights in bigger cities in Europe in new 3 to 4 star hotels with similar floor space but in more convenient and nicer locations for Euro 100 to 115.

  • Exceptional – Almendra from France – 17 July 2025 (10/10)

Je me suis sentie comme chez moi, j'ai aimé l'espace et les installations et c'est très proche de la gare, comme le montrent les photos.

  • Muy cómodo – Zuria from Spain – 19 May 2025 (8/10)

Muy bien aislado y buena calefacción

What could be improved: El menaje de cocina era escaso
