Hotel Description

So I stumbled across this three-bedroom apartment on Rue Reniere last spring, and honestly? It completely changed how I think about staying in Bordeaux’s old town. The building itself has that weathered stone facade you see all over this part of the city – you know, the kind that’s been quietly watching centuries go by. When you first walk up, there’s this lovely worn patina on the wooden door that just screams authentic Bordeaux character.

What really got me was the location – I mean, you’re literally in the heart of everything without being on one of those tourist-mobbed streets where you can’t sleep past 7 AM. Rue Reniere is one of those narrow cobblestone lanes that feels properly medieval, but it’s tucked just enough off the main drag that you get this perfect balance. You can walk to Place du Parlement in about three minutes (I timed it), and the Saturday morning market at Marché des Capucins is an easy stroll – though fair warning, the cheese vendors there will absolutely ruin your budget if you’re not careful. The apartment itself feels like someone actually lives there, which sounds obvious but you’d be surprised how many rentals feel sterile. There are these gorgeous old shutters that creak just right when you open them in the morning, and the floors have that slight slope that comes with 18th-century buildings. The kitchen is surprisingly well-equipped – I ended up cooking way more than I planned because, well, when you’re a five-minute walk from some of the best produce markets in France, why wouldn’t you? One thing to note: parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving. The streets here weren’t exactly designed for cars, so you’ll probably end up using the underground garage near Place Gambetta. It’s not a huge deal, just something to factor in.

What really sealed it for me was this small detail – there’s a tiny balcony off the main bedroom that looks out over the neighboring courtyards, and in the evenings you can hear this mix of clinking glasses and quiet conversations floating up from the wine bars below. It’s peak Bordeaux, honestly. The whole place just has this relaxed, lived-in vibe that makes you feel like a temporary local rather than a tourist passing through. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the shower pressure is actually fantastic – you know how hit-or-miss that can be in older European buildings. The owner clearly put thought into the practical stuff while keeping all the charm intact. If you’re the type who wants to experience Bordeaux like someone who actually lives there, rather than bouncing between hotel lobbies and tour groups, this is exactly what you’re looking for.

Visitors often choose Bordeaux’s apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent wine capital.

Apartment has good standards, comfortable beds and nice kitchen/living room area. Perfect location to discover Bordeaux and great access to public transportation. The area is quiet even when very close to restaurants/bars. Fully recommendable for friends/couples visiting the city. Victor, the owner, was always quick to reply and check in/check out was efficient

  • Tom from United Kingdom (8/10)

Location is great, nice cobbled streets and interesting shops & cafés nearby, as well as easy access to the river. Extras in the kitchen such as cooking oil are always appreciated.

  • Helena from Ireland (9/10)

Beautiful, spacious apartment with all mod cons. Close to the centre of Bordeaux and shops. Owner is a pleasure to deal with and very helpful. Will definitely be booking again

  • Katy from South Africa (9/10)

Fantastic central location overlooking a bustling square that's full of life. Local life, restaurants and foood shops are right there. Main shopping drag, Sainte Catherine, is v close too. Good for people who like city living. Not so good if you're looking for somewhere quiet though closing the windows shut most of the sound out! You need to be fittish, this is three very steep flights of stairs up with no lift!

  • Mairead from Ireland (9/10)

Apartment was in perfect location just a short walk to shops and cafes and ideal for what we needed for our weekend stay. The owner was great, our flight times were less than ideal but organised a key to be available when we arrived late at night and sent pictures of the building so we knew we were at the right place.

  • Sarah from France (8/10)

Location was perfect, right in the centre of the old town. Noisy at night, but fine with ear plugs! It was great to be in the heart of a noisy, buzzy city.

  • Te from Australia (7/10)

Location – in a building on a very popular square with lots of cafes and small restaurants. Close to tram stop to the airport. Close to Rue Sainte Catherine pedestrian shopping street.
