Hotel Description
So I stumbled across Villa Segur on Rue Fieffé last spring, and honestly, it’s one of those places that gets better the longer you stay. The building itself has this understated elegance – you know, not trying too hard but clearly well-maintained. It’s tucked into this quiet residential street that most tourists never find, which means you actually get to sleep without sirens or drunk groups stumbling past your window at 2 AM.
What really struck me about this place is how the staff seems to genuinely know Bordeaux. I mean, when I asked about wine bars, the guy at the front desk didn’t just hand me a generic brochure – he actually drew a little map showing me which places locals go to versus the tourist traps. The rooms have this comfortable, lived-in quality without feeling worn down, if that makes sense. The beds are proper comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and there’s enough space to actually unpack without living out of your suitcase. The bathrooms are modern but not sterile – they’ve managed to avoid that chain hotel feeling where every surface is identical white tile. Parking can be a bit tricky since it’s a residential area, but they’ll sort you out with directions to nearby spots, and honestly, you’re close enough to everything that you’ll probably end up walking most places anyway.
The neighborhood itself is what sold me on coming back. You’re maybe a fifteen-minute walk from the cathedral and all that, but Rue Fieffé feels like actual Bordeaux – there’s a little bakery around the corner where you’ll hear more French than English, and the market on Saturday mornings is where locals actually shop, not just pose for Instagram photos. The hotel’s location means you can duck back for an afternoon rest (crucial during summer when it gets properly hot) without feeling like you’re trekking back to some remote business district. I appreciated that they don’t oversell the place either – it’s a solid 4-star that knows what it is. The 8.1 rating feels about right; it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury touches, but everything works well and the whole experience just feels… reliable, I guess? Which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to explore a city without worrying about whether your hotel room will be a disaster to return to.
Early hotels booking in Bordeaux is essential during major events like the Wine Festival, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned vineyards and gastronomy.

Enjoyable, great location to train station – Fernandez from United States – 11 June 2025 (9/10)
Very clean, comfortable and pretty
Superb – Suzanne from Canada – 25 April 2025 (9/10)
The young men at the reception were very helpful carrying our luggage upstairs.
What could be improved: The closeness of the location to
the train station.Superb – Mellerick from Australia – 11 October 2024 (9/10)
Proximity to train station
Very friendly staff
Great breakfast
Lovely outdoor sitting area although we didn't stay long enough to use itVery good – Maire from Ireland – 14 September 2024 (8/10)
Location was great – 3 minute walk to St. Jean Gare station. Bed was very comfortable. Shower very powerful.
What could be improved: I had emailed to say my flight was arriving early and Julie confirmed that we could leave our bags at reception until check in time. When we arrived and buzzed at door, a man said we couldn’t come in and to leave our bags in a locker at the train station (this cost us €10).Nice and pleasant stay – Kateryna from Switzerland – 20 July 2024 (9/10)
The accommodation is clean and bed of comfortable. Travel light, as we did, so you do not need to lift your bags up. Was ok with a 3y.o., she was enjoining the stairs. Nice and fresh breakfast in the patio.
What could be improved: NothingGreat location, very clean and comfortable and great hosts. Would definitely recommend to others and stay again – Lynley from New Zealand – 16 May 2024 (9/10)
The red Pom was s pop spotless and very comfortable
What could be improved: If I visit Bordeaux again I would book a room with a courtyard viewComfortable stay, close to rail station. – Rosemary from United Kingdom – 10 April 2024 (8/10)
Really close to Avignon train station 🙂 We arrived later in day when no-one there to greet us, but good communication with staff, so had keycode etc to get in. Accommodation over 2 floors – downstairs a small table, sink & fridge, microwave, small amount china & cutlery. Upstairs spacious bedroom & bathroom, both with velux windows. Breakfast available in your own downstairs area if you want it – need to let them know in advance. Only visitors staying there overnight, but staff always there in the mornings.
What could be improved: Quite steep steps up to the bedroom area.Very good – Tim from Australia – 15 February 2024 (8/10)
Breakfast was good. The only surprise is the bedroom was on the second floor up steep stairs.
Would be nice but bad experience – Daniel from Australia – 17 December 2023 (7/10)
It was pretty and the bed was comfortable.
What could be improved: We had no wifi the four days we were there. We told them the first night and they said they'd look into it. We asked again the second day and they said they would speak to the manager. But we heard nothing and had nothing. They tried to give us a link to the office wifi but it was too far to our room and wouldn't work. This was a real issue because we were working.
The kitchenette was disappointing. They do say that it is a microwave/oven but that is literally all it is. Not even a kettle. Just a microwave and a sink.Very good – Andrew from United Kingdom – 13 October 2023 (8/10)
Friendly staff.
