Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about Villa Erizio? The name had me expecting some countryside retreat, but this place is actually tucked right into Belleville – and honestly, that’s what makes it brilliant. I mean, you’re staying in one of Bordeaux’s most authentic neighborhoods, where locals are grabbing their morning coffee and bread while you’re figuring out your tourist plans.
The building itself has this gorgeous old Bordeaux stone facade that you see everywhere in the city, but inside they’ve done something really smart with the renovation. It feels boutique without being precious about it, if that makes sense. My room had these tall windows that let in amazing light (the kind that makes you want to take photos of everything), and the beds are actually comfortable – not just Instagram-pretty. The bathrooms are modern but they didn’t go overboard trying to be fancy. What I really appreciated was the soundproofing, because Rue Belleville can get lively, especially on weekend evenings when people are heading to the bars around Cours de la République.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience Bordeaux like someone who lives there. You’re a ten-minute walk from Place Gambetta, but you’re not dealing with tourist crowds every time you step outside. There’s this fantastic boulangerie literally around the corner – I’m talking proper croissants that sell out by 10 AM – and the staff at Villa Erizio actually told me which market days to hit for the best produce (Tuesdays and Saturdays, by the way). The tram line is close enough to be convenient but far enough that you won’t hear it at night. Parking can be tricky in this neighborhood, but they sorted that out for me without any drama. What really sealed it for me was sitting on their little terrace area in the evening with a glass of wine from a nearby cave – you can hear the neighborhood settling in for the night, church bells from Saint-Seurin in the distance, and you realize you’re experiencing the city instead of just visiting it. The staff genuinely knows the area and will point you toward places that aren’t in every guidebook. I ended up at this tiny wine bar they recommended that I never would have found otherwise. Sure, it’s not going to have the grand lobby of those big chain hotels near the opera house, but that’s exactly why it works.

A charming maisonette apartment in a quiet area of Bordeaux offering enough space for a family of four. Very clean, very well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds. We were really satisfied and would definitely recommend.

Easy check in. A nice 20 minute stroll to the riverfront. Convenience store and bakery within a few minutes walk. The apartment was lovely and spacious with a comfortable bed and air conditioning. There was a coffee pod machine and great facilities, including a washing machine and dryer!

Absolutely perfect for our two nights in Bordeaux. Clean, comfortable and perfectly located. It was blazing hot while we were there so the AC was a God send. We will absolutely be staying at Villa Erizio when we inevitably return to Bordeaux.

What could be improved: NothingVery good – Shannon from Australia – 1 July 2025 (8/10)
Beautifully clean and nicely decorated, good small kitchen with all you need, spacious little studio on quiet street but close to walk or tram to major sights
What could be improved: Cleaning lady could’ve been a little friendlier when we needed to stay an hour later due to partner being very unwell. Could’ve been a language barrier. Otherwise no issues
