Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about THEM’APPARTS BORDEAUX Sainte Croix? It’s tucked away on Rue des Étables in this wonderfully quiet pocket of the Sainte-Croix neighborhood that most tourists completely miss. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the bustling cours de l’Intendance, but the street itself feels almost residential – which is exactly what you want after a day of wine tasting and wandering around the old town.

The building spreads across ground floor and first floor, and honestly, the setup works really well. It’s got that authentic Bordeaux feel without trying too hard – you know how some places go overboard with the “historic charm” thing? This isn’t that. The apartments (and they really do feel like proper apartments, not hotel rooms pretending to be something else) have this lived-in quality that makes you settle in immediately. The 9-star rating makes sense once you’re there – it’s the kind of place where everything just works. The check-in was smooth, the space was clean and thoughtfully arranged, and there’s actually decent water pressure, which… well, anyone who’s stayed in older European buildings knows that’s not always a given.

What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to keep the character of the neighborhood intact. You’ll hear church bells from Sainte-Croix in the morning (not annoyingly early, just pleasantly atmospheric), and there’s this little bakery about two blocks down that locals actually use – not just a tourist trap. The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Bordeaux rather than just visiting it. You can walk to the tram stops easily enough, but you’re also in prime territory for just wandering the narrow streets and stumbling onto those wine bars that don’t have English menus. Parking can be a bit tricky in the area – it’s not impossible, but if you’re driving, maybe scope out the situation beforehand. The whole Sainte-Croix district gets pretty lively on weekend evenings, but inside the apartments, it stays surprisingly quiet. I think it’s something about how the building sits back from the main pedestrian flow. For a 3-star place, it punches way above its weight – you’re getting the independence and space of an apartment rental with the reliability and service of a proper hotel. Perfect for couples who want their own space or anyone staying more than just a night or two.

Reviews

  • Exceptional – David from New Zealand – 2 July 2025 (10/10)

    Nice original design

  • Disappointing appartments, very small and in a rundown, noisy neighborhood – Luise from Switzerland – 16 July 2025 (4/10)

Professional communication and access process worked well. Location is convenient, close by the river & train station and a few nice restaurants are in 5-10 min. walking distance.

What could be improved: Huge construction right in front, direct neighbourhood is run down and very noisy until late.
Appartments are much smaller than it looks like on the pics, it's challenging to be with two people in the room. It gets very hot, but can't open the window for long as it's too loud.
Cheap furniture, not very clean, one pipe in the bathroom leaked.
Washing machine was occupied the whole stay from the cleaning staff.
