Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about THEM’APPARTS in Chartrons? It’s actually on the ground floor right side of this pretty typical Bordeaux building on Rue Minvielle – and I mean that in the best way. None of that hauling luggage up three flights of narrow stairs that you get with so many apartment rentals in this city. The street itself is quiet enough that you’re not getting woken up by delivery trucks, but you’re still right in the heart of what’s honestly become one of Bordeaux’s coolest neighborhoods.
The Chartrons district has this interesting thing going on where it used to be all wine merchants and warehouses, and now it’s got this mix of antique shops, wine bars, and locals who’ve been here forever alongside newcomers who discovered the area. From the apartment, you can walk to the Saturday organic market at Marché des Chartrons in about two minutes – I’m talking fresh oysters, local cheeses, that whole scene. The tram’s right there too on Cours Xavier Arnozan, which honestly makes getting around Bordeaux so much easier than dealing with parking in the city center.
What I really appreciated about this place was how it felt like staying in someone’s actual apartment rather than a sterile hotel room. The setup is pretty straightforward – you’ve got your own space with a kitchenette that’s actually functional (not just decorative like some places), and everything feels clean and well-maintained without being overly fussy. The 7.9 rating makes sense to me; it’s not luxury, but it’s solid and comfortable, and the location more than makes up for any minor quirks. I mean, you’re a fifteen-minute walk to Place des Quinconces and the riverside, but you’re also surrounded by these little wine bars that most tourists never find. There’s this spot called Bar à Vin du CIVB just around the corner where you can taste Bordeaux wines without the touristy markup you’d pay near the cathedral.
The check-in process was smooth – they’re pretty responsive with communication, which is always a relief when you’re trying to coordinate arrival times. Parking can be a bit tricky in Chartrons (it’s mostly street parking with those pay stations), but that’s true for most of central Bordeaux. The neighborhood gets lively in the evenings, especially on weekends, but it’s more of a pleasant buzz than party-till-dawn chaos. Honestly, if you want to experience Bordeaux like someone who actually lives here rather than just hitting the major tourist spots, this area gives you that authentic feel while still being completely walkable to everything you’d want to see.

What could be improved: Sofa bed. UncomfortableVery good – Hannah from New Zealand – 27 May 2024 (8/10)
Amazing location! Minutes away from the centre by tram and also walkable if you want to enjoy the beautiful river. Clean, tidy and spacious with everything you need.
What could be improved: The sofa bed wasn’t very comfortable at all.Ideal for our purpose. Compact, well planned appartment in excellent location. Very clean. – Sioned from United Kingdom – 13 September 2023 (9/10)
Good location, everything that you need in the studio, excellent communication with the host,
What could be improved: Very happy with the property – but we did struggle to retrieve the key on arrival because it was dark. However, we had excellent communucation from the host to help us gain access.Good location and amenities. could use some touches to be perfect. – Dina from Ireland – 7 August 2023 (8/10)
projector, chromecast is a nice combination.
internet was good.
location is second to none.
What could be improved: it was too hot with no air conditioning. a fan would be a good idea.
the shared living room is not private to us but shared.Lovely appartment stay with all the appliances. – Pawel from Netherlands – 13 July 2025 (8/10)
Good place to stay, has all the appliances, washingmachine was very welcome since we were few days underway already. Very near tram to get to the city center. Safe area and nice to explore for us as tourists.
Very good – Lily from Spain – 22 June 2025 (8/10)
The location is very nice. It is in a district where the middle class lives. Few tram stations to the city centre and 3 minute walk to Rue Notre Dame – a chic street with nice restaurants and shops. I enjoy also the facilites of full kitchen and the terrace
What could be improved: 1. Locating the key for entering the premises under the sun. ( my bad of not watching the youtube instruction prior).2. I hope the fence could cover better as was fear people may get into the place during the nite. 3. No aircon.Very good – Nicole from Belgium – 22 May 2025 (8/10)
Perfect location, quite neighborhood.
What could be improved: The instructions to get the keys and to open all doors, including the one for the bin could be better. The sheets were not very clean.Very good stay – Meg from Ireland – 22 September 2024 (8/10)
The property was in a lovely location, nice restaurants and bars nearby. We walked to the centre each day in approx 15 minutes. Excellent location. Our host was very nice, they were available for any queries we had.
What could be improved: We liked everything, however found the pull out bed not super comfortable but fine for the time we spent there.Great – perfect accommodation in a wonderful city, I had a thoroughly enjoyable time. – Stuart from United Kingdom – 28 July 2024 (8/10)
It was a great little flat – small but very interesting and unique. Also had a good kitchen and a washing machine.
What could be improved: Only issue was parking – my car is too high for the car park (not the property's fault obviously) but street parking ended up being a bit costly. Would be better going without a car.Recommended! – Susan from Australia – 1 July 2024 (8/10)
Excellent location, cosy and comfortable, close to shops and market, they quay and tram stop.
