Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about this place? I expected some cramped little apartment rental, but this T2 bis on Rue Saint-François actually feels like someone put real thought into making it work as a proper hotel space. The “atypique” in the name isn’t just marketing fluff – there’s genuinely something different about how they’ve set this up in what’s clearly an old Bordeaux building with all that gorgeous stonework you see everywhere in the city center.
The location honestly couldn’t be better if you’re trying to do Bordeaux without constantly hunting for parking or dealing with trams. Saint-François is one of those streets that’s close enough to everything – I mean, you’re basically a five-minute walk from Place du Parlement and all those wine bars – but it’s not right in the thick of the tourist chaos. Mornings are pretty quiet, though you’ll hear some street life picking up by afternoon, which I actually found kind of charming. The building itself has that typical Bordeaux character, you know, with the tall windows and thick walls that keep things cool even when it’s blazing outside in summer.
What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to make a 3-star place feel more upscale than it has any right to. The apartment setup means you’re not dealing with tiny hotel room syndrome – there’s actual space to spread out your stuff, and honestly, after a day of walking around the old town, having a real living area to collapse in makes all the difference. The kitchen isn’t huge, but it’s totally functional if you want to grab some fresh stuff from Marché des Capucins (which is close enough that you’ll probably end up there anyway). I appreciated little touches like decent coffee setup and proper glassware – sounds minor, but when you’re staying somewhere for more than a night or two, these things matter. The 8.9 rating makes sense once you’re there; it’s not trying to be the Ritz, but everything works well and feels thoughtfully done. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in that neighborhood – well, like anywhere in central Bordeaux really – but there are options within a few blocks if you’re driving. Check-in was smooth, no drama, and they clearly know the area well enough to give you actual useful recommendations rather than just pointing you toward the obvious tourist spots.

Feel at home in Bordeaux in this lovely apartment – Miranda from Germany – 26 June 2025 (10/10)
This apartment was a home away from home for us and was the perfect base to relax after running around Bordeaux. The location is great, near the charming downtown area with lots of shops and restaurants. You're not too far from the train station or the river either. The place has everything you need, with a unique bedroom that helped me sleep much better. Coralie left out a lot of information on where to visit and what to do in Bordeaux, and she was easy to reach by phone.
