Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Superbe Logement Haussmannien Lumineux” I thought, okay, someone’s really trying hard with the French superlatives here. But you know what? They’re actually not wrong about the lumineux part. This place on Rue de la Fusterie gets incredible light, especially in the mornings when those tall Haussmann windows just flood everything with that soft Bordeaux glow. It’s one of those classic 19th-century buildings that makes you feel like you’re living in a French movie, complete with the high ceilings and original moldings that somehow survived whatever renovations happened over the decades.

The location is honestly pretty sweet if you know Bordeaux at all. Rue de la Fusterie sits right in that sweet spot between the cathedral and the river – you’re maybe a three-minute walk from Place Pey Berland where all the tourists gather, but you’re tucked away enough that you won’t hear them stumbling back from the wine bars at midnight. I mean, you’ll still get some street noise because, well, it’s the city center, but nothing crazy. The building itself has that solid Bordeaux stone construction, so it’s not like staying above a café in some flimsier spot. There’s a Monoprix literally around the corner on Cours de l’Intendance, which saved me multiple times when I needed basics, and honestly, being able to walk to Marché des Capucins for morning coffee became my favorite routine.

What strikes me about this place is how it feels more like borrowing someone’s apartment than staying in a typical hotel – which makes sense given it’s more of a rental situation. The three-star rating feels about right; it’s comfortable and clean with character, but don’t expect anyone to bring you fresh towels or turn down your bed. The furnishings have that careful mix of trying to honor the Haussmann bones while keeping things functional for travelers. Some pieces work better than others (the kitchen setup is actually quite thoughtful), but the overall vibe is warm rather than sterile. Parking can be a bit of a dance if you’re driving – there’s paid street parking, but I’d honestly recommend the Parking Pey Berland garage and just walking the few blocks. The 7-out-of-10 rating seems fair to me; it’s got genuine charm and a great location, but it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury touches. What it will do is give you a real sense of living in central Bordeaux for a few days, waking up in those bright rooms and stepping out into streets that locals actually use, not just the tourist circuit.
