Hotel Description
Honestly, when I first walked into this loft on Cours Saint-Louis, I wasn’t expecting much – I mean, you see “loft” in rental descriptions and it could mean anything these days. But this place actually delivers on that promise, and then some. The space opens up beautifully with those high ceilings that make you forget you’re in the heart of Chartrons, and there’s this wonderful patio that becomes your own little sanctuary away from the street noise (which, let’s be real, isn’t bad here anyway since Saint-Louis is more residential than the touristy spots).
What really got me was how the owner clearly knows Bordeaux – you can tell from the thoughtful touches and the way everything’s set up. The kitchen actually has proper cookware, not the usual rental apartment nonsense, which matters if you want to grab fresh stuff from the Sunday market at Place des Chartrons just a few minutes’ walk away. Speaking of walking, you’re perfectly positioned here between the trendy wine bars along Cours Portal and the river, but far enough from the main drag that you won’t hear drunk tourists stumbling home at 2 AM. The tram’s right there too – honestly, you could skip renting a car entirely and just hop on the B line whenever you want to head into the old town or catch a train.
The patio deserves its own mention because it’s genuinely lovely, not just Instagram-lovely. I spent most mornings out there with coffee, watching the neighborhood wake up, and evenings with a bottle from one of the nearby wine shops (try Nicolas on Rue Notre Dame, the guy there actually knows his stuff and won’t try to oversell you). Sure, it’s not huge, but it feels private and gets good light most of the day. The whole setup just works – you know how some places feel like the owner lives somewhere else and just threw furniture together? This feels like someone who actually cares about how you’ll experience Bordeaux put it together. The 9.5 rating makes complete sense once you’re there, and I say that as someone who’s usually skeptical of places that score that high.
