Hotel Description

Okay, so first things first – don’t let the name intimidate you if your French is rusty. Studio sur patio au coeur des Chartrons basically means you’re getting a studio apartment with a little patio right in the heart of the Chartrons neighborhood, and honestly? That’s exactly what you want in Bordeaux. I mean, Chartrons is where the locals actually hang out – it’s got this perfectly worn-in vibe that the touristy areas around Place de la Bourse just can’t touch.

The studio itself sits on Rue Borie, which is one of those narrow streets that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into someone’s residential secret. You know what I love about this spot? It’s actually quiet at night (miracle in a city center), but during the day you can hear the neighborhood coming alive – people chatting on their way to the weekend markets, the distant clatter from the antique shops that line Cours Portal. The patio is small but it catches the afternoon light perfectly, and there’s something really satisfying about having your morning coffee out there while planning your day. The space feels lived-in rather than hotel-sterile, which I appreciate – though I’ll be honest, the furnishings are pretty basic. It’s clean and functional, but don’t expect Instagram-worthy interiors.

What really makes this place work is the location, and I don’t mean that in a generic “convenient location” way. Walk five minutes toward the river and you’ll hit the Saturday organic market at Marché des Chartrons – locals queue up for the guy who sells those incredible rotisserie chickens, and the cheese vendor actually remembers your preferences after a couple visits. Head the other direction and you’re in prime wine bar territory along Cours Portal, where you can nurse a glass of something local without feeling like you’re in a tourist trap. The tram stop at Chartrons is literally around the corner, so getting to the old city center takes maybe ten minutes, but honestly? You might find yourself staying in the neighborhood more than you planned. There’s this great little bistro called Le Bistrot du Marché where the owner will argue with you about wine pairings (in the most charming way), and the vintage shops along Cours Portal are perfect for that “I wasn’t planning to buy anything but…” kind of browsing. Parking can be a bit of a hunt on weekends – street parking fills up fast when the markets are running – but weekdays are fine. The 7.7 rating feels about right; it’s not luxury, but it gives you that authentic neighborhood experience that chain hotels just can’t deliver.

Reviews

  • Very good – Christian from France – 4 February 2025 (8/10)

What could be improved: RAS. Nous n'avons pas pris les repas sur place car nous n'avions pas besoin mais la table est petite pour déjeuner ou diner.

  • Exceptional – Maelle from France – 11 June 2025 (10/10)

  • Passable – Xiaojie from China – 27 May 2025 (5/10)
