Hotel Description

Okay, so first things first – don’t let the French name intimidate you. This little studio apartment is basically right in the heart of Bordeaux, and I mean *right* in the heart. You’re on Rue Huguerie, which honestly sounds way fancier than it is, but in the best possible way. It’s this narrow street where you can actually hear the tram rumbling by every few minutes, and yeah, the listing says it’s 100 meters away, but it feels even closer than that.

The thing about staying on the third floor in these old Bordeaux buildings is you’re going to get a workout – I don’t think there’s an elevator, so pack light or prepare to make multiple trips with your luggage. But once you’re up there, you get why people love this spot. The windows face out toward the street action, and you know what? The noise isn’t terrible. Sure, you’ll hear the tram and some late-night wanderers heading back from the wine bars, but it’s more like a gentle city lullaby than anything disruptive. I actually found it kind of charming after the first night.

What really sold me on this place was how walkable everything is. You step outside and you’re literally surrounded by those classic Bordeaux wine shops and little bistros that tourists spend hours trying to find. The Cathedral Saint-André is maybe a five-minute stroll, and if you want to hit the river – which you absolutely should for sunset – it’s an easy walk through some gorgeous old streets. The studio itself is pretty compact, I mean, it’s called a studio for a reason, but they’ve done a decent job maximizing the space. The kitchen area has everything you need if you want to grab some cheese and bread from the market and have a quiet dinner in. The bed was actually more comfortable than I expected, though the pillows were a bit flat (minor complaint, but worth mentioning).

Parking is… well, let’s just say don’t plan on having a car here unless you enjoy circling the block multiple times looking for a spot. This is old-city-center living, so embrace the walking or use that tram line that’s practically at your doorstep. I found the check-in process pretty straightforward, though the host communicates mainly in French, so brush up on your basics or have Google Translate ready. The building itself has that weathered charm you see all over this part of Bordeaux – thick stone walls, narrow hallways, the kind of place that’s been housing people for probably a couple centuries.

Honestly, for the price point and location, it’s hard to complain much. You’re not getting luxury amenities or a concierge, but you’re getting an authentic slice of Bordeaux life right where all the action is. Perfect if you want to stumble home after exploring the wine scene or if you’re one of those travelers who likes to feel like a temporary local rather than a hotel guest.

Early hotels booking in Bordeaux is essential during major events like the Wine Festival, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned vineyards and gastronomy.

What could be improved: Ce logement est présenté comme un "studio" indépendant.

– Christian from France – 17 May 2025 (8/10)
