Hotel Description
You know what? When I first stumbled across Séjour et Dégustation tucked away on Rue Caussade, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. The name basically screams “stay and taste,” which – let’s be real – could go either way in a wine city like Bordeaux. But Cécile and Jean-Baptiste have actually nailed something pretty special here. It’s this intimate little spot that feels more like staying with sophisticated friends who happen to have incredible taste in wine than your typical hotel experience.
The location is one of those things that works better in practice than on paper. Rue Caussade isn’t exactly a main drag, but that’s actually perfect because you’re away from the tourist chaos while still being a proper walk (maybe 10 minutes?) from Place de la Bourse and all that riverside gorgeousness. I mean, you’re close enough to the Saint-Pierre district that you can easily wander over for dinner, but far enough that you’re not dealing with drunk groups stumbling past your window at 2 AM. The building itself has that classic Bordeaux stone thing going on – you know, those cream-colored facades that look golden when the afternoon light hits just right.
What really sets this place apart though is how Cécile and Jean-Baptiste have woven the whole wine experience into everything without making it feel gimmicky. The rooms – and there aren’t many, which keeps things personal – have this understated elegance that lets you focus on the wine tastings they organize. Honestly, the check-in process alone tells you these people care about details. They actually sit down with you and talk through recommendations based on what you’re hoping to experience, not just hand you a key card and point toward the elevator. The soundproofing is surprisingly good too (I was worried about street noise, but Bordeaux isn’t Paris in that regard).
Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this part of town – there’s street parking if you’re lucky, or you might need to use one of those underground lots nearby. But here’s the thing: once you’re settled in, you probably won’t need your car much anyway. The whole point is really about slowing down and appreciating what Bordeaux does best. The 8.2 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top luxurious, but what it does, it does really well. If you’re the type who wants a massive pool and 24-hour room service, look elsewhere. But if you want to actually understand why people get obsessed with Bordeaux wines while staying somewhere that feels authentically local, this is your spot. Plus, Cécile’s recommendations for little bistros in the neighborhood are worth the stay alone – she knows places that don’t even have websites but serve the kind of food that makes you understand why the French are so particular about everything.

The apartment is very pleasant and well stocked for self catering. The host is very helpful and responded promptly to our query. The apartment is quiet even though it's by the railway station.

What could be improved: The usual – toilet seat was loose and sliding around, the shower head need maintenance, there were 3 coffee machines but no coffee. Otherwise it was well equipped for a short stay.Good – Sven from Germany – 16 October 2024 (7/10)
What could be improved: The handover of the keycode was unnecessary hard. We asked before, but it was not provided before arraival. We had to phone call the host on arrival. Therefore we had charge our phones first as they were discharded. So check in took us a while…

We loved the decor and how spacious the apartment was (especially compared to others we have stayed in across Europe).
It's located right by the train station, which suited us and we walked about 30 mins into town to explore.
The kitchen was well equipped.
