Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about the Residhotel Galerie Tatry? It’s tucked right inside this shopping gallery on Cours du Médoc, which honestly sounds weird until you actually see it. I mean, you’re literally walking through shops to get to your hotel lobby – but it works somehow. The whole setup feels very Bordeaux, if that makes sense. This city has always been good at mixing the practical with the unexpected.

The Chartrons neighborhood is perfect for this kind of place, actually. You’re far enough from the tourist madness around Place de la Bourse, but you can still walk there in maybe fifteen minutes along the river. What I really love is that you’re surrounded by actual Bordeaux life here – there’s this great little bakery just down Cours du Médoc where locals grab their morning coffee, and the antique dealers on Rue Notre-Dame are the real deal, not tourist traps. The rooms themselves are… well, they’re apartment-style, which is exactly what you want if you’re staying more than a couple nights. I had a kitchenette that was small but totally functional – honestly better equipped than some Paris apartments I’ve seen. The décor is sort of modern-minimalist, nothing fancy but clean and comfortable. You can hear some street noise during the day, but Cours du Médoc isn’t exactly the Champs-Élysées, so it quiets down nicely at night.

Here’s the thing about staying in Chartrons – you get to live like a local without paying Old Town prices. The tram B line is right there, so you can zip down to the center whenever you want, but you can also just wander around this area and discover stuff. There’s this wine bar, Le Petit Commerce, about five minutes away that serves the kind of natural wines Bordeaux locals are obsessed with these days. And if you’re into the whole food market scene, Marché des Chartrons on Saturday mornings is where you want to be – way more authentic than the bigger markets downtown. The hotel staff actually seems to know the neighborhood, which isn’t always a given. They pointed me toward this tiny restaurant on Rue de la Devise that I never would have found otherwise. Check-in was smooth, no drama, and they store luggage if you need it. Parking can be tricky around here – the hotel doesn’t have its own spots, but there’s street parking if you’re patient, or a decent-sized lot about two blocks away. Is it luxury? No. But it’s smart, comfortable, and genuinely well-located if you want to experience Bordeaux beyond the postcard stuff. For a 3-star place with a 7.7 rating, it delivers exactly what it promises – a proper base for exploring the city without the tourist markup.

The concierge service in Bordeaux can arrange exclusive wine tastings at prestigious châteaux, secure reservations at Michelin-starred restaurants, and organize personalized tours of the UNESCO World Heritage historic district.

Reviews

  • Superb – Özer from Netherlands – 22 July 2025 (9/10)

Great location and the hotel itself was also super nice

What could be improved: There are some minor cleaning issues but nothing too worrying

  • Good – Erdemli from Sweden – 18 July 2025 (7/10)

Very clean room and comfortable bed. The bathroom was fresh and there was enough pillows/blankets/towels

What could be improved: The water pressure in the shower is very weak, the hallways are also dirty and have stained carpet

  • Comfortable and clean. – Erin from Australia – 18 July 2025 (9/10)

Very comfortable hotel and a great room. Had washing facilities as well but could be cheaper.

What could be improved: The paid breakfast isn’t great and it’s a bit of a walk to get to anything of substance in the area. No charging facilities next to bed.

  • Hidden gem in great location. – Mark from Australia – 12 July 2025 (9/10)

A little hard to spot from the street but this is a hidden gem. A modern fit out this room had everything we wanted. Bed was comfortable, shower was excellent, location was a very short walk to the C tram which takes you past the major attractions. Air con was good and quiet.

What could be improved: We skipped the breakfast at 11 Euro for continental breakfast and cooked our own in the room.

  • Very good – Anthony from Canada – 19 June 2025 (8/10)

Comfortable beds and a basic kitchen. They allowed us to store bikes near the reception.

  • Clean and comfortable room, but location isn’t great. – Zita from United Kingdom – 3 June 2025 (7/10)

Our room is clean and very comfortable. The staffs are very friendly. We had breakfast on one of the morning, it was simple and decent.
There is nothing in its immediate surroundings but a very nice bistro in only 2 tram stops away.

What could be improved: The hotel is in a strange and kind of remote neighbourhood. While it is easily accessible via Tram C into town in about 10min; to walk will take 30-40min.
They’re strict with the 4pm check in. We arrived at 3:30pm and was told to wait til 4pm.
There is no room “free” cleaning service for 1-6 days stay; which doesn’t affect us as we only stayed for 2 nights.

  • Good hotel – Temitope from France – 27 May 2025 (9/10)

The location was great, not too far from the train station and 5 minutes walk from the tram.
The morning reception was great. The receptionist I met there around 11 AM told me the room wasn't ready yet and offered to keep my bags at the hotel while I went for a stroll.
Very good and full breakfast. I really do recommend adding the breakfast option.
The room was full of kitchen utensils. I loved this. There is intermarche just in front of the hotel so if you want to buy food or any daily use you can get it there.

What could be improved: When I returned in the afternoon, the afternoon receptionist was unlikeable and spoke very harshly to me. It was my first time there, and there were some things I didn't know. Instead of calmly explaining, he was purely rude. This type of behaviour can certainly leave a bad taste.

  • Value for money – Gialitaki from Greece – 15 May 2025 (9/10)

Value for money. Nice room. Not so central, but there is frequent tram service.

What could be improved: Very late check-in although check-out was at 11, as normal.
Possibility to keep the luggages in the hotel.

  • Good stay except poor nights sleep for my child – Wesley from United Kingdom – 21 April 2025 (7/10)

Convenient location close to tram stop and good space in the apartment

What could be improved: The sofa bed my child slept on was very poor quality and slumped in the middle badly. Desperately needs replacing

  • Great stay! – Alexandra from United Kingdom – 8 April 2025 (9/10)

Staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was very spacious and great value for money.
