Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of three-star places in Bordeaux, and honestly? Place du Palais 3° punches way above its weight. The location alone – right on Cours d’Alsace-et-Lorraine – puts you smack in the heart of things without that tourist trap feeling you get closer to Place de la Bourse. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Grand Théâtre, and there’s this fantastic little wine bar called Le Flacon that the locals actually go to just around the corner on Rue Sainte-Catherine.
What really got me was how the staff seemed to actually know Bordeaux. When I asked about getting to the Cité du Vin (because, come on, you have to), the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a generic map – he told me which tram stop to use and mentioned the riverside walk back is gorgeous at sunset. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but everything works properly (you know how hit-or-miss hotel WiFi can be – this was solid throughout). The shower pressure was surprisingly good for an older building, and I appreciated that they’d clearly invested in decent mattresses. Sure, you can hear a bit of street noise if you’re facing the main road, but it’s that gentle city hum rather than anything disruptive, and it dies down after the restaurants close around 11.
Here’s the thing that made me book this place again on my next trip – they get the little details right. The coffee in the lobby is actually drinkable (shocking, I know), and there’s always someone around who can help without making you feel like you’re bothering them. Plus, and this matters if you’re planning to explore the wine regions, they’ll happily hold luggage and give you proper directions to the train station for day trips to Saint-Émilion. The neighborhood itself has this perfect mix of everyday Bordeaux life and enough cafés and shops to keep you entertained – Place Gambetta is just a short stroll away when you want that classic French square experience. Honestly, for the price point and that 8.9 rating, it makes total sense. You’re not getting luxury, but you’re getting a genuinely pleasant stay in a spot where you can walk to dinner, grab morning pastries from the boulangerie next door, and feel like you’re staying somewhere real rather than some generic hotel bubble.
Visitors often choose Bordeaux’s apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent wine capital.

Lori from Portugal (8/10)
The location was great, we were across the street from the tram, around the corner from a grocery store and several restaurants in the square right outside the door! The apartment was pretty well equipped which was nice because we like to cook for ourselves.
Rosie from United Kingdom (9/10)
Excellent location with a lovely view in both directions. Nice and bright and airy with everything we could have needed. The sofa and the bed were comfy, all rooms were a good size to say it is only a one bedroom apartment. We would definitely stay here again, the entire accommodation had a very relaxing, peaceful feel. Very convienient location for commuting around Bordeaux on the public transport too as it is located just next to a tram stop which runs all the way to the airport (the trams are quiet though and the windows are well sound proofed). Staff were also really helpful, allowing us to alter our dates without any hassle and plenty of information provided which enabled a smooth check-in and out, as well as about the local area. Very happy!
