Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Particulier? The name actually makes sense once you’re there – it really does feel like staying at someone’s well-appointed private residence rather than a typical hotel. I mean, you’re right on rue de Macau in the heart of Bordeaux’s old town, and honestly, I walked past it twice before realizing this unassuming façade was where I’d be sleeping.

The thing about this place is that it gets all the small stuff right in ways that bigger hotels often miss. The rooms have this sort of curated feel – not fancy in an intimidating way, but thoughtful. Real books on the shelves (in French, naturally), decent lighting for actually reading, and windows that open properly so you can hear the city waking up with you. The bathroom products smell like something you’d actually want to use at home, and the shower pressure is solid – which, let’s be honest, can be hit or miss in these historic Bordeaux buildings.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to know the neighborhood inside out. When I asked about dinner spots, they didn’t just hand me a generic list – they actually asked what I was in the mood for and steered me toward this tiny wine bar three blocks over that I never would have found otherwise. And speaking of wine bars, you’re basically surrounded by them here. The Saturday market at Place des Capucins is a quick walk, and if you’re into the whole Bordeaux wine scene (which, come on, why else are you here?), you can walk to most of the good tasting spots in the city center.

The only thing that might catch you off guard is how quiet it gets at night – I mean dead quiet, which is actually pretty rare for a city center location. Some people love that, others might find it almost too peaceful. Also, parking is basically non-existent right outside, but there’s a public garage about two minutes away that won’t break the bank. The front door situation is very French – you’ll need to buzz in after certain hours, so don’t expect to stumble back from a wine tasting at midnight without figuring out the entry code they give you at check-in.

Honestly, the 9/10 rating makes total sense to me. It’s not trying to be the flashiest place in Bordeaux, but everything works exactly as it should, and the location puts you right where you want to be without the tourist trap pricing of some of the bigger name hotels. If you’re the type who’d rather spend your money on good wine and food than on hotel amenities you won’t use, Particulier gets it right.

  Very cute and private space, clean and super comfortable for my brother and I and my little dog who stayed with us and thoroughly enjoyed the garden space! Breakfast included is a nice touch. Close to the center (20 mins walk or bus). AC was a life saver on warm days! I especially appreciated the fluid communication with the host – she was very adaptable and responsive, and very kind to our requests. Would recommend !

  Excellent location, near to bus, near to small market. The appartment was nice, clean and silent. Windows with yard view. Landlaidy Fabiana was very helpfull and pleasant.
  
  Just notice if you have a car: The parking lot before house is for free from 19 till 9 only Othervise you must park at near public place. It is just one minute by walk (so its really close enought). But it is on densely populated estate. I had a rental car so I was worried about some scratches. Mrs Fabiana ensure me thats safe place. And yes, finally there were no problem, everything was fine 😊

  There is no parking available with this apartment, just street parking. Walk to Market area took 20 mins. Clean and plenty of facilities in apartment. Quiet location.

  Our host was very welcoming – left brioche, milk, jam, etc. – and the accommodation was very cared for and tastefully yet originally decorated. We were in a quiet apartment facing the courtyard, in a quiet neighborhood that is easily reachable by bus, tram, or foot. Thank you for a great stay!
