Honestly, when I first saw the name “L’Oli” I figured it was just another quirky Airbnb situation, but this place on Rue Tombe l’Oly actually surprised me. The street itself is pretty quiet – you know how some Bordeaux neighborhoods can get a bit rowdy on weekends, but this little pocket stays relatively peaceful even when the rest of the city’s buzzing.

The apartment itself is genuinely spacious at 102 square meters, which I mean, in European city terms that’s practically a palace. What really got me though was stepping out onto that patio for the first time – there’s something about having actual outdoor space in the middle of Bordeaux that just hits different. The jacuzzi isn’t huge (honestly, it’s more like a really nice hot tub), but after walking around the city all day exploring the wine bars along Quai des Chartrons, sinking into those bubbles with a glass of local Pessac-Léognan was pretty much perfect. You can actually hear the city humming in the distance, but it’s muffled enough that you feel like you’ve found this secret little retreat.

The location is what really makes this work – you’re close enough to walk to Place de la Bourse (maybe 15 minutes if you’re not rushing), but far enough from the tourist chaos that you can actually get some sleep. I noticed the host has clearly thought about the details too: good coffee setup, decent Wi-Fi that actually works when you need to upload photos, and the shower pressure is surprisingly solid. Parking can be a bit of a dance around here – street spots fill up fast, especially during wine season when everyone’s in town – but there are a couple of paid lots within walking distance if you’re driving. The building itself has that classic Bordeaux stone exterior that photographs beautifully, though honestly, you’ll probably be too busy enjoying the patio to spend much time taking pictures of the facade. What struck me most was how the space manages to feel both distinctly French and genuinely comfortable – you’re not sacrificing modern conveniences for charm, which honestly can be hit or miss with these historical city rentals.
