Nice renovated apartment Bordeaux

You know what struck me first about this place on Rue Jules Steeg? It’s actually in a proper residential neighborhood – not some touristy strip where every other door is a souvenir shop. The building itself has that classic Bordeaux stone facade, and honestly, walking up to number 29, you’d never guess there’s such a nicely done apartment tucked inside. The renovation work is really well executed, none of that cheap IKEA-everything approach you sometimes get with rental properties.

The location is pretty smart if you ask me. You’re in the 33800 area, which means you’re close enough to the city center but not dealing with all the cruise ship crowds that flood the old town during summer. There’s actually a decent little bakery just around the corner on Avenue Thiers (the owner makes these incredible canelés – way better than the tourist versions), and you can walk to the Garonne riverfront in maybe fifteen minutes. Parking isn’t the nightmare it is closer to Place de la Bourse, which is honestly a huge relief if you’re driving. The tram line isn’t far either, so getting into the heart of Bordeaux is pretty straightforward.

What I really appreciated was how the space feels like someone actually lives there – well, I mean, it’s clearly set up for guests, but it doesn’t have that sterile hotel vibe. The kitchen is properly equipped (not just a mini-fridge and a prayer), and the shower has decent water pressure, which you can’t always count on in these older buildings. The windows face away from the main street, so you don’t get woken up by delivery trucks at 6 AM like I did at another place near the cathedral. The WiFi actually works too, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places mess that up. I’d say the 8.5 rating makes sense – it’s not perfect luxury, but it hits all the important notes without any major disappointments. If you want to experience Bordeaux like you’re staying in someone’s neighborhood rather than just passing through the postcard spots, this is a solid choice.

  The apartment was cute and there was plenty of room. It wasn’t too far to walk to public transport or even the city center. There were some restaurants, bars, and shops within walking distance. The owners were super responsive when we asked for a kettle.

  The apartment was absolutely beautiful – fabulously decorated, very clean, and much larger than I expected. Big living room and bathroom. Great view over rooftops to tiny gardens and balconies. And it was a brilliant location – a really friendly, interesting area with an appealingly shabby vibe, just 15 mins walk from the old town, 10 mins from the station and a hop away from the Marché des Capucins.
