So I stumbled across La Parenthèse while looking for something different in Bordeaux – you know how most city breaks end up being the same old hotel room situation. This place is actually tucked away on Rue du Grand Maurian in Saint Augustin, which honestly, I didn’t know much about before staying there. Turns out it’s this quiet residential pocket that feels completely separate from the tourist madness around Place de la Bourse, but you’re still only about a 15-minute tram ride from the center. The building itself is pretty typical Bordeaux – that gorgeous cream limestone that looks almost golden when the afternoon light hits it just right.

What got me was walking into what’s essentially a private apartment setup rather than your standard hotel room. I mean, the jacuzzi was obviously the draw (and yeah, it’s properly private – none of that awkward shared spa situation), but it’s the little details that made it feel special. The bathroom actually has decent water pressure, which… well, if you’ve stayed in enough European city hotels, you’ll appreciate that. The space feels like someone’s stylish friend let you borrow their place for the weekend, not like a corporate chain tried to be boutique-y. There’s this lived-in comfort to it – proper coffee setup, a kitchen that you might actually use, windows that open wide enough to let in those evening sounds from the neighborhood.

The Saint Augustin area surprised me too. During the day it’s pretty sleepy, mostly locals doing their shopping along the main streets, but there’s this excellent little bakery about two blocks away that does these almond croissants that are honestly better than what I had in the city center. Evenings get livelier – you’ll hear people coming home from work, kids playing in the courtyard spaces, that sort of authentic neighborhood rhythm you miss when you’re staying right in the tourist zone. Parking was way easier than I expected for Bordeaux, though I’d still recommend the tram if you’re planning to explore the wine bars around Quai des Chartrons. The whole setup just works – it’s that sweet spot where you feel like you’re experiencing actual Bordeaux life rather than just passing through it. Plus, after a long day of walking those cobblestone streets and sampling entirely too much wine, sinking into your own private jacuzzi while listening to the neighborhood settle in for the evening… well, that’s exactly the kind of travel moment you remember long after you’ve forgotten which museum had which painting.

Visitors often choose Bordeaux’s apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent wine capital.

  Excellent emplacement, à 2 pas d’une station de tram. À 10min du centre de Bordeaux en tram.
  Se situe dans une rue assez calme avec places pour se garer qui sont gratuites dans le secteur.
  Équipements au top (TV, wifi, clim, jacuzzi,…) ! Le sous-sol avec la partie jacuzzi, salle d’eau est super.
  Le logement est moderne et très bien décoré.
  Attention à bien lire toutes les consignes afin de ne pas être dérangé par les bruits des équipements la nuit, du jacuzzi et du déshumidificateur notamment. En respectant tout cela, aucun souci.
  Nous avons apprécié les petites attentions à notre arrivée.
  Nous avons passé un très bon séjour.

  Dès l'entrée dans le logement , petite musique d'ambiance avec une belle décoration pour non accueillir.

  Très beau séjour dans cet appartement où tout est pensé pour rendre le séjour le plus agréable. l'aménagement du souplex est excellent entre une grande douche, un beau jacuzzi et les WC séparé. l'arrêt du tram est très proche. cet appartement porte très bien son nom, et a un rapport qualité-prestations et prix vraiment excellent.   Mon récent séjour à l'appartement "Mieux qu'à l'Hôtel" à Bordeaux a été des plus agréables. Cet appartement cosy, doté d'un espace comprenant une douche et un jacuzzi, offre un excellent moyen de détente après une journée de découverte. Très bien équipé, le confort et la praticité étaient au rendez-vous. Situé à seulement 15 minutes en voiture du centre de Bordeaux, l'accès aux attractions de la ville était aisé tout en permettant de s'éloigner de l'agitation urbaine pour retrouver tranquillité. La disponibilité de la propriétaire a également grandement contribué à la qualité de notre séjour. Nous n'hésiterons pas à réserver de nouveau chez "Mieux qu'à l'Hôtel" lors d'un prochain passage à Bordeaux. Merci pour cette expérience mémorable!

  Nous avons adoré cet établissement. Tous les équipements du plus petit au plus grand étaient parfaits et bien pensés pour des voyageurs en week-end et venant de loin. Merci pour cet accueil, nous avons passé un merveilleux séjour. Le quartier est calme, on peut se garer facilement dans la rue, proche du centre ville en voiture ou même en tram.
