Hotel Description

You know, I’ve stayed at my fair share of boutique hotels in Bordeaux, but Maison Hubert honestly caught me off guard – and I mean that in the best way possible. Tucked into this quiet little street in Chartrons, it’s the kind of place where you walk past thinking “hmm, what’s this?” then find yourself completely charmed within five minutes of stepping inside. The building itself has that gorgeous Bordeaux stone facade that just glows in the late afternoon light, and there’s something about the way they’ve restored it that feels… I don’t know, respectful? Like they actually cared about preserving what made it special in the first place.

What really gets me about this place is how they’ve nailed that sweet spot between boutique character and actual comfort. The rooms – well, mine overlooked the courtyard, which was blissfully quiet even though you’re basically in the heart of one of Bordeaux’s most happening neighborhoods. The design is this perfect mix of classic French elegance and modern touches that don’t feel forced or Instagram-y, if you know what I mean. Actually, the bathroom was surprisingly spacious (always a win in these historic buildings), and honestly, the bed was one of those where you sink in and immediately think “okay, I could get used to this.” The staff deserves a mention too – they have that French hospitality thing down where they’re professional but genuinely warm, not just going through the motions.

Here’s the thing about staying in Chartrons though – and this is where Maison Hubert really shines – you’re literally a two-minute walk from some of the best wine bars and antique shops in the city, but you’re also far enough from the tourist crush around Place de la Bourse that you can actually breathe. I mean, you can walk to the tram in about three minutes if you want to head into the old town, but honestly, I found myself just wandering the neighborhood most evenings. There’s this fantastic little wine shop right around the corner where the owner will actually talk your ear off about natural wines (in a good way), and the Saturday morning antique market along the quai is absolutely worth setting an alarm for. The only tiny downside – and I’m really reaching here – is that parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving, though the hotel staff were super helpful with suggestions. But really, with a 9.8 rating, you kind of know what you’re getting into, and Maison Hubert delivers on every level. It’s the sort of place that makes you want to plan your next Bordeaux trip before you’ve even checked out.

Hotels in Bordeaux offer guests the perfect blend of French elegance and modern comfort, with many featuring wine cellars and sommelier services to enhance the authentic regional experience.

    1. We got one of the smaller apartments (mini-Peach) to stay. This was a 2-bedroom house with a living area and a separate bath and toilet. The entire stay was really nice for the following reasons.
    1. The staff – all the staff members were very nice to us. They spoke very well and ensured that our stay was comfortable.
    2. The living space was very clean with attention to detail. All amenities were already there in the room. There were sufficient towels, creams, soaps and coffee machine and fridge.
    3. We had separate rooms for adults and kids and the beds were full size.
    4. Breakfast was complimentary, but you need to fill out a form indicating what you need for breakfast and when. They can serve it either in your room or at the common room downstairs. This was fresh and reduced wastage.
    5. The hotel staff also gave us all the brochures, locations to visit, nearby hotels to order food from etc on arrival.
    6. Special shout out to Maddy, Fabiene and Amber from the front desk.

Breakfasts were abundant and offered a wide variety of options. Our stay was thoroughly enjoyable. The location is fantastic—close to the park and within easy reach of the city center. Highly recommended!
