Hotel Description

You know what hit me first about this place? Walking down Impasse des Tanneries – which is basically this narrow little side street that most tourists completely miss – you’d never expect to find something this special tucked away behind an unassuming door. I mean, Bordeaux’s old tannery district isn’t exactly where you’d think to look for a boutique guesthouse, but that’s exactly what makes it brilliant.

The whole setup is honestly pretty clever. You’re literally in the heart of everything – I could stumble to Place de la Bourse in about three minutes after a wine tasting – but because you’re on this quiet impasse, there’s none of that street noise that usually comes with central locations. The owner (who actually lives there part-time, I think) has created something that feels more like staying at your well-traveled friend’s place than a typical hotel. The rooms have this lived-in elegance, if that makes sense – nice linens and thoughtful touches, but nothing that screams “don’t touch the decorative pillows.” And that terrace they mention? It’s actually substantial enough to spread out with a bottle of wine and some cheese from the Saturday market at Marché des Capucins, which is maybe a ten-minute walk.

But honestly, the jacuzzi is what seals the deal here. After spending entire days wandering through the Chartrons district or cycling out to the vineyards (which, by the way, is totally doable from here – you can rent bikes right near Place Gambetta), coming back to soak while looking out over Bordeaux’s rooftops is pretty much perfect. The 9.7 rating isn’t just people being generous – this place genuinely gets the details right. Check-in was smooth, the WiFi actually works throughout the building, and there’s decent coffee in the morning, which matters more than you’d think. I stayed during shoulder season in October, so it was quiet, but I imagine summer gets busier given how many people I saw discovering it on booking sites. The only minor thing – and this is really minor – is that the water pressure varies a bit depending on what floor you’re on, but honestly, when you’ve got jacuzzi access, it hardly matters. If you’re the type who wants to experience Bordeaux like you actually live there, rather than just hitting the obvious tourist spots, this is your place.

Bordeaux’s hotels range from charming boutique properties in the historic city center to elegant châteaux converted into luxury accommodations in the surrounding wine country.

Reviews

  • What a beautiful place! – Emma from United Kingdom – 10 June 2025 (9/10)

The house was super clean, beautifully decorated and well equipped. The hosts were quick to respond to queries too.

What could be improved: The hot tub wasn't cleaned before we arrived but this was soon fixed. Unfortunately, we ran out of time to use it.

  • A hidden gem in central Bordeaux – Alan from United Kingdom – 17 August 2024 (10/10)

Lovely stay in a central location. Property was spacious, private and a home away from home. Rooms were large and the water pressure and air conditioning were excellent – very important for a summer stay

What could be improved: The apartment was well stocked with utensils for cooking a family meal but some items were quite worn and need replacement – not a major issue, but marred what would otherwise be an even better experience

  • We were 5 ‘girls’ celebrating big birthdays, the accommodation was perfect and the host very helpful. – Diana from United Kingdom – 7 September 2023 (9/10)

Beautifully appointed, fantastic bedrooms and bathrooms, really well equipped. Quiet but central location with a lovely terrace.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • A beautiful place to stay in Bordeaux – Lidiya from United Kingdom – 23 July 2023 (10/10)

Excellent location, host and accommodation. We booked the entire place for a group of 10. The place was extremely clean and very well decorated. Each room had AC and a shower and/or bath and a toilet.

Though I never met the host, they were always easy to get hold of by phone and so helpful in providing restaurant recommendations and assistance when I needed it. There is a garage as part of the property where we were able to book parking.

What could be improved: Zero complaints from a group of 10! I would happily come to Bordeaux and stay here every time cos the place looks even better in person than in the pictures, and the hosts are truly lovely!

  • Trés Bien – Zoe from United Kingdom – 5 March 2023 (10/10)

We stayed as a group of ten for a friend’s birthday getaway, it could not have been more perfect.
The house is beautiful and well equipped. each room is a good size with a bathroom and three have balconies. The outside area is lovely.
the location is fantastic, walking distance of central areas and near a tram stop. Hosts were friendly, helpful and communicative, we were
allowed to store luggage freely and easily before check in and after check out.
    We will definitely return!!

  • Highly recommend this house! We really had the loveliest stay here – Xin from Singapore – 21 January 2023 (10/10)

This was honestly one of the BEST stays we have ever had. The house was spacious, clean and in one of the safest areas of Bordeaux, and ample of cafes and grocery stores nearby. The kitchen had all the equipment we needed for cooking and even a coffee machine!! Each room have their own showers and toilet which makes it super convenient, since we are a large group. The house is also equipped with a washer dryer so it was perfect for our long travel.

It was a very comfortable stay and the rooms are extremely lovely. Each room also comes with a little balcony for fresh air in the morning, super cute!!!

The host is super responsive, gave us a ton of food and sightseeing recommendations. Instructions he gave were clear and he was punctual in meeting us as well. Super friendly host that help us feel very welcome in Bordeaux.
