Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Maison d’hôtes Bordeaux Centre Le Patio de l’Intendance? The name’s a mouthful, sure, but it actually tells you everything – this place sits right on Cours de L’Intendance, which honestly might be the best street in central Bordeaux if you’re into that perfect mix of shopping and old-world charm. I mean, you’re literally steps from Place de la Comédie and the Grand Théâtre, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with constant street noise. The building itself has that classic Bordeaux limestone facade that glows golden in the late afternoon sun – you’ll see what I mean when you’re walking back from wine tastings around 6 PM.

The whole “maison d’hôtes” thing isn’t just fancy French marketing speak here; it actually feels like staying at someone’s beautifully renovated home rather than a cookie-cutter hotel. The patio they named the place after is this lovely little courtyard space where you can actually hear birds in the morning instead of traffic, which is pretty remarkable for such a central location. The rooms have this lived-in elegance – think antique furniture mixed with modern bathrooms that actually work well (the water pressure’s solid, just saying). What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to know the neighborhood inside and out. They pointed me toward this tiny wine bar on Rue du Pas-Saint-Georges that I never would’ve found otherwise, and when I mentioned wanting to hit the Saturday market at Marché des Capucins, they gave me the real scoop about timing and which vendors to seek out.

Parking can be a bit tricky – there’s no dedicated lot, but there are a couple of public garages within a few blocks, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you probably won’t need your car much anyway. The Place des Quinconces is an easy walk, the tram stops are close by, and if you’re doing the whole Bordeaux wine thing (which, let’s be real, you probably are), most of the good spots are within walking distance. I stayed there in early October and the whole area had this perfect autumn energy – busy enough to feel alive but not so crowded that you’re fighting tourists for sidewalk space. The 8.6 rating feels about right; it’s definitely well above average but not trying to be something it’s not. It’s got that authentic Bordeaux character without the stuffiness you sometimes get at the fancier places, plus the four-star rating means you’re getting proper amenities without paying palace prices. If you want to feel like you’re actually staying in Bordeaux rather than just sleeping somewhere in Bordeaux, this is your spot.

Early hotels booking in Bordeaux is essential during major events like the Wine Festival, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned vineyards and gastronomy.

  • A lovely stay in a very comfortable air conditioned apartment. – Alastair from United Kingdom – 5 July 2025 (10/10)

Excellent location in centre of Bordeaux above pedestrian busy street. Owner Pierre was exceptionally helpful and property was cleaned every day..
On tram route accessing every part of Bordeaux.

What could be improved: Maybe instructions for opening the outside door from within be written in different languages?

  • Wonderful stay – Patricia from United States – 20 May 2025 (10/10)

  • Fabulous property in a great location to explore Bordeaux. – David from United Kingdom – 12 May 2025 (10/10)

Great location in centre of city with public transport tram stopping almost outside the door. Walking distance to many interesting shops and restaurants and with tram, connection to rail station was 20 mins. Located in a magnificent architectural area in Bordeaux and 10 mins walk from the riverside promenade.
There is a shared area of living and dining space with each room (2) on the 2nd floor which was beautifully furnished and set out like a home. In addition there is a fully functional kitchen. All rooms can access the internal patio which is a lovely cool quiet space to sit and shelter from the sun at any time of day.
