You know what struck me first about this place? The name sounds fancy – Maison de charme neuf hyper centre – but it’s actually refreshingly unpretentious when you walk through the door. Located on Rue de Bègles in the Nansouty Saint-Genes neighborhood, it’s one of those spots that feels authentically Bordeaux without trying too hard. I mean, you’re technically in the city center but it doesn’t have that touristy bubble feel that some hotels get trapped in.

The building itself is genuinely charming (living up to that “charme” in the name), and I appreciated that “neuf” part – everything feels fresh and well-maintained without being sterile. What I really loved though was how the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about dinner spots, they didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map. Instead, they mentioned this little bistro around the corner that locals frequent, and honestly, it ended up being one of my favorite meals in Bordeaux. The check-in was smooth too – none of that awkward hovering around the lobby while they figure out your reservation.

Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned to explore without being stuck in the middle of all the chaos. The tram connections are solid from here, so getting to the historic center or down to the riverfront is actually easier than from some of the more “central” hotels I’ve stayed at. Plus – and this might sound minor but it matters – the street is quiet enough that you can sleep with the windows cracked open on nice evenings. I stayed during late spring and could hear the city settling down at night without any of that constant traffic noise that drives me crazy in urban hotels. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving (welcome to Bordeaux, right?), but there are options nearby and the staff knows where to direct you. The 8.3 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury amenities, but it delivers exactly what it promises with a smile and some local personality thrown in.

  Lo que más me gustó fue la atención de la anfitriona, además de que la casa está completamente equipada ( plancha, secador…), cerca del mercado Capucins y otros servicios. Situada en un barrio tranquilo y bastante céntrica. El autobús (el número 15) tiene parada justo en la misma calle y lleva al mismo centro de Burdeos recorriendo el tramo más turistico.

  Situé près du coeur actif de Bordeaux, facile d'accès, reposant par la quiétude de la rue bien que proche d'une artère. Maison pratique et ensoleillé, équipé de clim a des lieux stratégique. Salle de bain spacieuse et toilettes séparés. Cuisine équipée et bien agencé. Les deux chambres sont grandes et le lit de l'étage grandiose !
