Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about Maison Bouquiere Le Pigeonnier? The name makes it sound way fancier than it actually is – and I mean that in the best possible way. This is one of those classic Bordeaux townhouses that’s been converted into a hotel, tucked away in the city center where you can actually walk to everything that matters. The “pigeonnier” part refers to the old dovecote architecture, which honestly just adds to the charm when you’re sipping wine on those tiny wrought-iron balconies.
The location is pretty much perfect if you want to experience Bordeaux like locals do. You’re a five-minute walk from Place de la Bourse (that famous mirror fountain everyone photographs), but more importantly, you’re right in the thick of the wine bar scene along Rue du Pas-Saint-Georges. I spent most evenings just wandering the cobblestone streets around there – the hotel sits in this maze of narrow alleys where you’ll stumble across tiny bistros that don’t even have signs. The rooms are… well, they’re proper French hotel rooms, meaning they’re not huge but they’ve got character. Think creaky wooden floors, tall windows that actually open (a blessing in summer), and bathrooms that are functional rather than Instagram-worthy. The 8.2 rating feels about right – it’s not luxury, but everything works and the staff genuinely seems to care about your stay.
What really sold me on this place was how quiet it gets at night, despite being dead center in everything. Something about these old stone buildings just absorbs the city noise, and by 10 PM you’d hardly know you’re in the middle of Bordeaux’s busiest district. Parking is the usual city center nightmare – there’s a public garage about three blocks away, but honestly, once you’re checked in, you won’t need your car. The tram stops right at Place de la Comédie, maybe a seven-minute walk, and from there you can get to the train station or out to the wine regions if you’re doing day trips. I actually ended up extending my stay an extra night because I realized I hadn’t fully explored the Saint-Pierre neighborhood just south of the hotel – all these converted warehouses turned into art galleries and wine shops that close whenever they feel like it. That’s Bordeaux for you, and this little hotel puts you right in the middle of that wonderful, slightly chaotic energy.

The apartment was spacious and comfortable. Our host, Fatima, was wonderful. She got in contact a few days in advance and her directions were accurate and easy to follow. The location was excellent. Right beside the main shopping street, a tram stop, and within walking distance of all major attractions with lots of restaurants in the vicinity. The area felt relatively safe.
The apartment was very clean and well equipped for self-catering. Excellent value for money. There were free pastries on arrival which was a pleasant treat. We were very happy.Kerry from Australia (8/10)
A warm, comfortable and secure apartment in the old town, close to bars, restaurants, historical monuments and the river.
This is an attic room with low ceilings in the corners.
Something to consider is that if you have trouble with stairs, it is not for you. There are 67 of them – I counted.Simon from United Kingdom (8/10)

Location was ideal, the loft was clean and owner installed an AC unit due to excessive heat. The apartment was also supplied with kitchen essentials that included cold beverages, milk, coffee, tea. We were very appreciative of this since we were traveling with a child.
