Magnifiques Appartements Hypercentre avec Terrasse Overview
First Impressions
When I first walked up to Magnifiques Appartements Hypercentre avec Terrasse on Rue Tustal, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the modest entrance. But you know what? Sometimes the best places in Bordeaux are the ones that don’t need to show off. This three-star property sits right in the beating heart of the city center, and I mean literally — you’re about a two-minute walk from Place de la Bourse and the famous Water Mirror. The building itself has that classic Bordeaux limestone facade that blends seamlessly with the neighborhood’s 18th-century architecture.
The Apartment Experience
What sets this place apart is that you’re getting an actual apartment, not just a hotel room. The space I stayed in had this wonderful lived-in feel — think exposed beams, original hardwood floors, and windows that actually open wide (something you don’t always get in modern hotels). The kitchen was compact but functional, with everything you’d need if you picked up some fresh produce from the Marché des Capucins nearby. I actually ended up cooking a simple dinner one night, which felt surprisingly natural after wandering the wine shops all day.
That Terrace Though
The terrace — and this is where the name really delivers — became my favorite spot each evening. It’s not huge, but it’s perfectly positioned to catch the late afternoon sun, and you get these lovely glimpses of the surrounding rooftops and church spires. I’d grab a bottle of local wine (there’s a fantastic cave à vin literally around the corner) and just sit out there watching the city wind down. The neighbors were friendly too — you get that real residential vibe that’s hard to find when you’re staying in the tourist zones.
Location and Getting Around
Here’s the thing about the location — it’s almost too good. You’re within walking distance of basically everything worth seeing in central Bordeaux, but you’re also on a quiet residential street that doesn’t get the late-night noise from the bar crowds. The tram stop at Hôtel de Ville is maybe a three-minute walk, which connects you to the train station and the wine regions if you’re planning day trips. I noticed lots of couples staying here, and honestly, it makes perfect sense — there’s something romantic about having your own little Bordeaux pied-à-terre, even if it’s just for a few nights.
Why Guests Love It
The breakfast situation is pretty straightforward — they offer continental options or grab-and-go if you’re rushing out to catch a wine tour. What I appreciated was the flexibility; some mornings I’d take the breakfast to go and eat it by the Garonne, other days I’d linger in the apartment and plan my day over coffee. The whole experience feels more like borrowing a friend’s place than staying in a hotel, which is exactly what some travelers are looking for. Plus, with that location score of 9.8, you’re really getting the best of both worlds — authentic neighborhood life with tourist attractions at your doorstep.

We absolutely loved this apartment!! It was decorated with modern finishes and located in the heart of Bordeaux, we had a super market right around the corner with many stores for shopping and restaurants. Lucie was beyond pleasant and accommodating. It honestly is the perfect location and the price was very reasonable compared to hotels in the area. We just loved everything about Bordeaux. The people are so friendly and even put up with our terrible French. They actually apologized to us for not speaking English lol
Will certainly come back to Bordeaux and stay at the exact same spot. Thank you for a wonderful trip!Jacques from United Kingdom (8/10)
