Hotel Description
You know what? I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Bordeaux over the years, and these apartments on Rue Gaspard Philippe really hit that sweet spot between location and comfort. I mean, you’re literally in the thick of everything here – I could walk to Place Gambetta in about three minutes, and the Cathédrale Saint-André is practically around the corner. The building itself has that classic Bordeaux limestone facade that makes you feel like you’re actually in France, not some generic hotel chain.
The apartments themselves are honestly more spacious than I expected. My friend had warned me that “hyper centre” usually means shoebox-sized rooms, but whoever designed these actually thought about how people live. The kitchen was properly equipped – not just a mini-fridge and a prayer – and I could hear my neighbor’s TV faintly through the walls, but nothing that kept me up at night. What I really appreciated was the attention to details that matter: good water pressure (crucial after walking around those cobblestones all day), decent Wi-Fi that didn’t cut out every five minutes, and windows that actually block out the morning light if you want to sleep in. The 4-star rating feels about right – it’s not luxury, but it’s solidly comfortable with a few nice touches that show someone cares about the guest experience.
Here’s the thing about this location that you won’t get from just looking at a map – you’re close enough to walk everywhere that matters, but just far enough from the main tourist drags that you’re not dealing with crowds outside your door at 7 AM. The street itself is pretty quiet, mostly locals heading to work or the small café on the corner. I actually discovered some of my favorite spots in Bordeaux just by wandering around this neighborhood – there’s this tiny wine bar called Le Petit Commerce about a five-minute walk away that serves the most incredible oysters, and you’d never find it unless you were staying nearby. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving (honestly, just take the train into Bordeaux), but the tram connections are solid if you need to get to other parts of the city. The 7.7 rating seems fair – it’s not going to blow your mind, but you’ll be comfortable, well-located, and probably discover parts of Bordeaux that most tourists miss entirely. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want.

Spacious, fresh, clean and comfortable.

The apartment was beautiful and located in a lovely multi-cultured neighborhood vibe. Loved the time here and only negative was the two flights of very steep stairs to the apartment. The lounge was quite small for two adults but that didn't bother us. Kitchen is tiny but has everything you could ever need. Great bathroom and really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the bedroom. Very clean and would recommend.

The situation of the apartment in the old town was very nice. We enjoyed the street markets, restaurants and food outlets within meters from the apartment.
