Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “magnifiques appartements” in the name, I rolled my eyes a little. But walking up Rue Georges Bonnac to number 53, I actually got it. These aren’t your typical cramped hotel rooms, and the location is pretty much perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Bordeaux rather than just visiting it. You’re right in the city center, which means you can stumble back from dinner without worrying about trams or taxis, but it’s tucked on a quieter street so you won’t have drunk tourists keeping you up all night.
The apartments themselves feel… well, lived-in in the best way. I mean, they’re clean and well-maintained, but there’s character here – high ceilings, those gorgeous French windows that actually open wide, proper kitchens where you can make coffee that doesn’t taste like cardboard. What really sold me was the morning light streaming through those windows and the fact that I could hear the city waking up without feeling like I was sleeping on the sidewalk. The rating of 8.2 seems about right – it’s not luxury, but it’s solid and authentic. Some of the fixtures are a bit dated (the shower in my unit was perfectly fine but definitely from another decade), and don’t expect fancy toiletries or turndown service. But honestly? That’s not what you come here for.
Here’s what you should know: Place Gambetta is basically around the corner, so you’ve got cafés and that gorgeous square right there for your morning routine. The tram stop is maybe a three-minute walk, which means getting to the wine districts or out to the train station is ridiculously easy. And – this is key – you’re close enough to walk to Rue Sainte-Catherine for shopping but far enough away that you won’t get caught in the tourist chaos. I loved being able to duck into the local boulangerie on Cours de l’Intendance (you’ll find it, trust me) and actually have conversations with people who weren’t trying to sell me something. Parking can be tricky in this area, so if you’re driving, factor that in – though honestly, once you’re here, you probably won’t want to move your car anyway. The whole experience feels like borrowing a friend’s place in the city, which is exactly what makes these apartments work. It’s not flashy, but it’s real Bordeaux living, and sometimes that’s worth more than all the marble lobbies in the world.

This was a lovely place to stay for a long weekend – cosy, very centrally located, and well-equipped for a three-person stay. Well-provisioned for cooking and very clean when we arrived, and easy to access the property. If staying any longer than a weekend it might feel a little small but it was great for what we were after!

Lindsey from United Kingdom (9/10)
Located right in the centre of Bordeaux, a very comfortable, well equipped apartment with absolutely everything you need. The host was excellent at communication and answered my questions very quickly. The host also went out of their way to help us extend the check out time as we had a 12 week old baby with us and was so very accommodating. Felt secure and safe
