Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about this place? I was expecting just another cramped Bordeaux rental, but walking into this 160-square-meter apartment on rue Gaspard Philippe actually made me stop and look around twice. The space is genuinely generous – I mean, three proper bedrooms that don’t feel like afterthoughts, which is pretty rare in the city center.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Bordeaux rather than just visiting it. You’re tucked into this quiet residential street (thank god, because some central spots can be brutal with the weekend crowds), but Place Gambetta is literally a five-minute walk away. I grabbed coffee most mornings at that little bakery on the corner of rue Judaïque – locals actually go there, which tells you something. The tram’s right there too, though honestly, you’ll probably end up walking everywhere because the old town, the cathedral, even the riverfront are all within easy reach. I did the whole tourist circuit one afternoon and barely needed transit.
What really sold me on the place was how it felt lived-in but polished, if that makes sense. The kitchen actually has proper counter space (revolutionary concept, I know), and whoever set it up clearly cooks because there’s stuff like a decent cutting board and real knives. The living area gets great light in the mornings – those tall French windows do their job – and there’s enough seating that you’re not playing musical chairs if you’re traveling with friends or family. The bedrooms are well thought out too; the master is spacious without being echoing-empty, and even the smaller rooms don’t feel cramped. I stayed in early fall when it was still warm, and the cross-ventilation worked well enough that we didn’t need AC most nights.
Parking was easier than expected, actually. There’s street parking that isn’t completely impossible to find (though I’d still recommend the covered garage about two blocks away if you’re staying more than a night or two). Check-in was smooth – none of that awkward key-handoff drama you sometimes get with apartment rentals. The building itself is classic Bordeaux stone, well-maintained but not fancy-fancy, which felt about right for the neighborhood.
Look, it’s not perfect – the shower pressure could be stronger, and if you’re hoping for hotel-style daily housekeeping, well, it’s an apartment. But that 8.3 rating feels about right to me. It’s the kind of place where you settle in by day two and start planning your next trip back to Bordeaux before you’ve even left. Especially if you’re traveling with people and want space to spread out, or if you’re planning to actually explore the city rather than just hit the major sights and leave. The whole setup just works – you’ve got the space and comfort to recharge, but you’re right in the thick of things when you want to be.
Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Bordeaux through local agencies that offer personalized recommendations and insider knowledge about the best neighborhoods for exploring the city’s rich cultural heritage.

it was very spacious in terms of the living room, bathroom and main bedroom, had a huge tv with Netflix, YouTube etc. The host was very welcoming and informative and was very helpful in carrying my suitcase up 3 flights of stairs, presumably after she saw my disability. There was also a complimentary bottle of wine left for us, which was a nice touch.
