Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Madeleine’s Top Rated 8 Traveller City Center Bordeaux Appartments” I thought it sounded a bit… well, like someone threw keywords at a wall. But you know what? Sometimes the places with awkward names turn out to be hidden gems, and this one actually delivers on that promise.
The location on Cours Pasteur is pretty perfect if you ask me. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from Place Gambetta (which honestly has better cafés than the touristy spots near the cathedral), and getting to the tram is so easy you’ll wonder why anyone bothers with taxis. The building itself has that classic Bordeaux limestone thing going on – nothing too fancy, but it fits right in with the neighborhood. What really got me was how quiet it stays despite being so central. I was expecting street noise all night, but the apartments face away from the main traffic flow, so you actually get decent sleep. The check-in process was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that “meet us at a different address” nonsense you get with some apartment rentals.
Inside, these aren’t your typical cramped European city apartments. The spaces feel genuinely livable, with proper kitchens (not just a hot plate shoved in a corner) and bathrooms that don’t require contortionist skills to use the shower. Madeleine – who I’m assuming is the owner, though I never actually met her – has clearly put thought into the details. Good wifi, decent water pressure, and honestly some of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept in during my time bouncing around France. The décor won’t win any design awards, but it’s clean and functional without being sterile. There’s this nice balance between feeling like a real apartment and having everything you need as a traveler. I particularly appreciated the little local touches – a proper French press for coffee, some restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps, and even umbrellas by the door (which, if you’ve spent any time in Bordeaux, you know you’ll need). The 8.8 rating makes total sense when you experience how everything just… works. No drama, no unpleasant surprises, just a solid place to base yourself while you explore the city. And at this price point in central Bordeaux? That’s harder to find than you might think.

Could not be better located, all bedrooms had the same facilities so everyone was happy.
What could be improved: Bordeaux is not car friendly, so some more information on nearby parking would have been useful. Public transport, however, is fantastic.Very good – Mel from Ireland – 8 December 2024 (8/10)
