You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from another “charming apartment” listing in Bordeaux, but this place on Rue Duffour Dubergier actually surprised me. The moment you climb up to this top-floor spot, you get why they called it “lumineux” – the light just pours in through these gorgeous skylights, and honestly, it feels more like staying in someone’s carefully curated Parisian pied-à-terre than a typical rental.

The location is pretty much perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without the tourist chaos. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the Cathédrale Pey-Berland (hence the name), and I mean, you can hear the bells in the morning, which sounds annoying but is actually kind of lovely. What I really loved though was how close you are to all the good stuff locals actually use – there’s this fantastic little boulangerie on Cours de l’Intendance where I grabbed coffee every morning, and the Saturday market at Marché des Capucins is just far enough that you feel like you’re discovering something. The tram stop at Hôtel de Ville is right there too, so getting to the wine regions or even just across town is dead simple.

Now, being “sous les toits” means you’re dealing with slanted ceilings and a few flights of stairs – just so you know. But honestly, the trade-off is worth it. The apartment itself feels thoughtfully put together, not like someone just threw some IKEA furniture in a room and called it done. The kitchen actually has proper equipment (I made a decent dinner with stuff from the Marché des Grands Hommes), and the bed situation is comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with French pillows all night. The Wi-Fi works well if you’re trying to get some work done, and it’s surprisingly quiet for being so central – those thick old walls really do something. I stayed in September when Bordeaux was still buzzing but not completely overrun, and even then, evenings were peaceful enough to leave the windows open. The 8.8 rating makes sense to me – it’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but it’s genuinely comfortable and the kind of place where you settle in rather than just crash for the night.

  Very cute flat with retro furniture. Really great location right by two tram lines, one of which goes to the airport. I thought it might get very hot on the top floor, but it was managable even if the only AC-like thing was a fan with a cooling function since we could get a good cross-flow of air at night. (Days of 30 C, nights below 20 C)

  We had a very nice time in Bordeaux. The appartment was very clean and comfortable. We did not mind the 4th floor without a lift. The owner was helpful when we asked for an earlier check-in. The appartment has a perfect location in the middle of Bordeaux next to tram stations (line A and B).

  Die Lage ist perfekt und mitten im geschehen! Die Schlüsselübergabe durch Sandrine war sehr nett und unkompliziert. Die Wohnung ist im 4. Stock und nur über eine Treppe erreichbar. Gibt gutes Training für die Beine! Die Wohnung ist sehr stilvoll eingerichtet und es fehlt an nichts. Das Bad hatte schon bessere Tage, aber es funktioniert alles. Die Matratzen sind recht weich.
