Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about this place? The fact that it actually has parking – and I mean proper parking, not some sketchy spot three blocks away where you’re praying your car’s still there in the morning. In Bordeaux, that’s honestly worth its weight in gold, especially when you’re staying in Bastide on the right bank of the Garonne. Most people think they need to be in the historic center to “do Bordeaux properly,” but honestly, being in Bastide gives you this perfect mix of residential calm and easy access to everything that matters.
The flat itself sits on Rue de la Benauge, which – if you’re not familiar with the area – runs through one of those neighborhoods that feels genuinely Bordelais rather than touristy. You’ll hear actual French conversations drifting from café terraces instead of tour groups debating wine ratings. The tram’s right there (Line A stops at Stalingrad, maybe a five-minute walk), so getting into the city center takes maybe fifteen minutes tops. But here’s the thing I really appreciated: when you come back after a day of wandering through the Cité du Vin or getting lost in Saint-Pierre, you’re returning to somewhere that feels like a proper neighborhood. There’s a boulangerie around the corner where the woman behind the counter will remember your coffee order by day three, and the evening light hits the Garonne just right from this side of the river.
Inside, it’s got that comfortable, lived-in feeling that makes you want to actually use the kitchen instead of just admiring it. The morning routine becomes part of the experience – you know, making coffee while planning whether to hit the Saturday market at Marché des Capucins or just wander the antique shops along Rue Notre-Dame. The 8.7 rating makes sense when you consider it’s the little things that add up: decent water pressure, windows that actually open properly, and – this might sound silly – but the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every time someone in the building uses their microwave. I mean, you don’t realize how much that matters until you’re trying to look up restaurant reservations or figure out train times to Saint-Émilion. The four-star rating feels accurate too, though it’s more about everything working smoothly rather than fancy amenities you’ll never use. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want – a place that just lets you settle in and experience Bordeaux like you’re temporarily living there rather than just passing through.
To book a hotel in Bordeaux during the wine harvest season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts wine enthusiasts from around the world.

Great location. Excellent check in procedure with lots of relevant information. Secure car parking was great

Arrival and trying to get into the apartment was a nightmare. Our flight was held up and I contacted the host who said he would leave key in a key box. This was hard to find and then working out how to open garage and get into the building was difficult. We needed two keys but only had one for 2 people.
