Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about this place? The name actually undersells it – calling it “lovely” is like calling Bordeaux wine “pretty decent.” This apartment sits right on Rue Dumaine, and I mean literally a two-minute stroll to Jardin Public, which honestly makes all the difference when you want to escape the tourist crowds with your morning coffee.
The location is what really makes this spot shine. You’re in the thick of Bordeaux’s old quarter, but on one of those quieter side streets where you can actually hear yourself think – and more importantly, sleep without earplugs. I stayed here during the wine harvest season (mistake if you hate crowds, perfect if you love the energy), and while the main drags were packed, Rue Dumaine felt like a little pocket of calm. The apartment itself has that lived-in charm that three-star places sometimes nail better than fancier hotels. Nothing’s trying too hard, you know? The furnishings feel authentic rather than hotel-generic, and there’s enough space to actually unpack your suitcase instead of living out of it for a week.
What I really appreciated – and this might sound mundane but trust me on this – the kitchen actually works. Like, properly works. I’m talking decent-sized fridge, stovetop that heats evenly, the kind of setup where you can grab fresh ingredients from Marché des Capucins (about a ten-minute walk) and actually cook something decent. The bathroom’s compact but functional, with water pressure that doesn’t make you question your life choices. Parking can be a bit of a dance – street parking fills up fast, especially on weekends when locals are out and about, but there’s a public garage maybe five minutes away if you don’t mind paying a bit extra. The 8.2 rating feels right on the money; it’s not trying to be the Ritz, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any nasty surprises. Check-in was straightforward, though I’d recommend confirming your arrival time since it’s not a traditional hotel setup with 24-hour desk service. Honestly, if you’re the type who needs constant concierge attention, this probably isn’t your speed. But if you want to feel like you’re actually staying in Bordeaux rather than just visiting it – waking up to the sounds of the neighborhood coming alive, popping down to the corner boulangerie, taking evening walks through the Jardin Public when the light hits just right – this little apartment delivers that experience in spades.

Reviews
We really enjoyed our stay and would book the apartment again if we return to Bordeaux – Barry from United Kingdom – 4 November 2024 (9/10)
It had everything needed for an enjoyable 5 nights. The handover was very good and the owner contacted us to make sure we had settled in. It is close to a tram stop in a very quiet area just outside of the main town. Would thoroughly recommend staying in this apartment
What could be improved: The apartment is up three flights of stairs (42),
My wife was suffering from sciatica and found the climb to be a struggle.
The Wi-Fi was poor with a range of 12-15 Mbps and frequently dropped put completely. I did expect a better/higher signalCozy apartment – Iryna from Ukraine – 30 May 2024 (9/10)
The apartment was comfortable and well equipped, with cozy style. Perfect for 1 traveler with small luggage
Great location, very comfortable, weel equipped apartment. – Peter from United Kingdom – 6 July 2023 (10/10)
Kept in touch with Concierge, plane was late, she waited for us and met us outside the property.
What could be improved: 2 minor things:-
Wifi a bit patchy.
Coffee machine needs recalibrarting, distributed very small amount of coffee.
What could be improved: Impossible de pouvoir regarder un peu la télé le soir, technologie trop pousséTrès agréable – Sylvie from France – 9 August 2024 (8/10)
Calme et emplacement
What could be improved: Les placards au dessus du lit, très gênants, on ne peut pas s'asseoir dans le litGood – Dormann from Poland – 3 June 2024 (7/10)
What could be improved:
Пароль от WiFi ооооочень длинный.excellent – Thierry from Luxembourg – 16 November 2023 (9/10)
Красивая приятная квартира – Darya from Poland – 20 June 2023 (8/10)
What could be improved: – Adam from France – 25 April 2023 (10/10)
Encore merci !Very good – Kim-juliana from Germany – 18 October 2024 (8/10)
