Hotel Description

You know what? I’ve walked past this little place on Rue du Pas-Saint-Georges probably a dozen times before finally staying there, and honestly, I wish I’d booked it sooner. The street name alone should tell you something – it’s tucked right in that maze of narrow cobblestone streets behind Place Saint-Pierre, where you can actually hear the cathedral bells if you open your windows in the morning. The building itself has that classic Bordeaux limestone facade that turns golden when the afternoon sun hits it just right, and there’s something genuinely charming about fumbling with those old-style French keys while tourists with their rolling suitcases clatter past on the stones outside.

What really struck me was how the place manages to feel authentically local without trying too hard. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from some of the best wine bars in the city center – Les Fils à Maman is practically around the corner, and if you head toward Cours Victor Hugo, you’ll hit that morning market where locals actually shop, not just the tourist traps near the Grand Théâtre. The rooms are definitely on the cozy side (this is a 3-star place, after all), but they’ve got character – exposed beams, the kind of windows that actually open wide, and surprisingly decent water pressure in the showers. The whole building creaks a bit when people walk around upstairs, which some might find annoying, but it adds to that lived-in feel that you just don’t get in modern hotels.

Here’s the thing though – parking is basically impossible right outside, so you’ll want to use one of the underground lots nearby, probably the one at Place des Grands Hommes. But honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t need a car anyway. Everything worth seeing in central Bordeaux is walkable from here, and the tram stop at Hôtel de Ville is maybe five minutes away if you want to head out to the wine regions. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after 10 PM, which is perfect if you’re planning to explore the city during the day and actually get some sleep at night. The 7.4 rating seems about right – it’s not going to blow you away with luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises: a genuine slice of old Bordeaux life with all the charm and minor inconveniences that come with it. If you’re the type who’d rather stay somewhere with real character than a cookie-cutter chain hotel, you’ll probably love it here.

Apartments in Bordeaux provide travelers with an authentic local experience, allowing them to shop at neighborhood markets and cook with fresh ingredients from the renowned Aquitaine region.

Reviews

  • Lovely little apartment in a super convenient location. – Graeme from United Kingdom – 18 June 2024 (8/10)

    Clean
    Convenient location

What could be improved: Not permitted to join the WiFi
No toilet paper (and also none in the nearby supermarket 🤦🏽)

  • In the heart of the city – Cc from United Kingdom – 30 June 2024 (8/10)

The location was great, busy but surprisingly quiet. Supermarket next door was handy. Fully equipped with everything we need appliance wise.

What could be improved: No amenities (soap etc) and no aircon.

  • Great location and beds, place needs some love and care. – Katharine from Spain – 9 April 2024 (7/10)

    Very central, comfortable mattresses.

What could be improved: The kitchen gadgets are old and partially broken. Though stated, there was no WiFi, and owner didn't reply to my messages regarding WiFi. Though it included toilet paper, there was only one role of toilet paper for three days. They should have some information for their guests on how to use the equipment, eg. cooker, wifi pw, tv etc.

  • Not value for money – Poppy from United Kingdom – 27 June 2024 (4/10)

    Location is amazing.

What could be improved: No soap, no toilet paper, host said hoover was broken so the carpet was dirty… and it was. Bedding not provided / made on arrival and someone had to come back in the evening. Wouldn't mind any of this if it was cheap, but it wasn't cheap…

  • Great place to stay when the weather is a bit cooler – Anonymous from Australia – 12 June 2025 (6/10)

Great location & great to have a kitchen & washing machine.

What could be improved: No aircon meant window needed to be open & very noisy outside. Didn’t get too much sleep.
