Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about this little gem? The name actually undersells it – I mean, “Little house with small courtyard” sounds almost apologetic, but honestly, that intimate scale is exactly what makes it so special. Tucked away on Rue du Doyen Sigalas in the Nansouty Saint-Genès area, it’s one of those places that feels like you’re staying at a friend’s perfectly curated home rather than some cookie-cutter hotel.
The location is actually brilliant if you know Bordeaux at all. You’re in this quiet residential pocket that most tourists never discover, but you’re still close enough to walk into the city center when you want the action. The Nansouty area has this lovely lived-in feel – there’s a morning market nearby where locals actually shop (not just tourists taking photos), and you’ll find yourself walking past authentic bistros where people are reading Le Sud Ouest over their café au lait. The courtyard itself is where this place really shines though. It’s small, yes, but thoughtfully done – somewhere you can actually sit with a glass of wine in the evening without feeling like you’re performing for other guests. I spent more time out there than I expected, especially in the early morning when it catches this perfect light and you can hear the neighborhood slowly waking up.
What really got me was the attention to detail throughout – the kind of touches that suggest someone who actually cares lives here or at least oversees things closely. The rooms have character without trying too hard, and everything just works properly, which honestly isn’t always a given even in pricier places. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, and the whole experience felt genuine rather than scripted. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area (it’s street parking mostly), but that’s pretty typical for residential Bordeaux neighborhoods. The real charm is that you’re staying somewhere with actual personality – a place that earns its perfect rating not through flashy amenities but by getting all the fundamentals right and adding that indefinable quality that makes you want to come back. If you’re the type who prefers discovering a neighborhood over checking tourist boxes, this little house will probably win you over completely.
