Hotel Description
Honestly, when I first walked down Rue des Trois Chandeliers, I almost missed this place – which is sort of perfect, actually. The name “Les Trois Chandeliers” (literally “The Three Chandeliers”) promises something grand, but what you get instead is this intimate little gem tucked right in Bordeaux’s historic center. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from Place du Parlement with all those gorgeous 18th-century facades, but somehow this narrow cobblestone street stays refreshingly quiet, even during the summer wine tour madness.
The whole “petit paradis” thing in the name isn’t just marketing fluff – they’ve really created something special here. Walking into the lobby, you immediately notice they’ve kept all the old character (exposed stone walls, original wooden beams) but added these thoughtful modern touches that actually work. The chandeliers are there, obviously, but they’re more elegant than flashy. What really got me was the attention to small details – like how they’ve soundproofed incredibly well for such an old building. You know how Bordeaux can get pretty lively at night, especially around the tram stops, but I barely heard any street noise even though we’re right in the thick of everything. The rooms themselves feel authentically French without being stuffy about it. I loved that they kept the original hardwood floors (they creak a tiny bit, but in a charming way) and the windows are these beautiful tall things that let in amazing light during the day.
Here’s what I wish someone had told me before booking – parking is tricky around here since you’re in the pedestrian-heavy zone, but there’s actually a decent public garage about a five-minute walk away on Cours d’Alsace-et-Lorraine. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood and will steer you toward the good wine bars (skip the touristy spots on Rue Sainte-Catherine and head to the little places they recommend instead). The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you experience how they handle the small stuff – fresh pastries at breakfast that taste like they’re from the boulangerie around the corner, helpful suggestions about which tram line to take for day trips to Saint-Émilion, that sort of thing. It’s three-star technically, but it feels more thoughtful than some of the flashier places near the Grand Théâtre. If you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re staying in actual Bordeaux rather than just visiting it, this is your spot. Just book early if you’re coming during harvest season – locals have clearly figured out this place is special too.

The host is very patient and understanding. We had trouble finding our way to the apartment, and he waited patiently for us. The location of the apartment is great for our short stay in Bordeaux.

What could be improved: Nothing to dislike!Great pad for a getaway to Bordeaux that is perfectly located in the center but still a very quiet location. – Theresa from Canada – 7 May 2025 (8/10)
Charming, cozy apartment in historic building with equally charming host. Alain was there to greet us at the door and explain everything in the apartment. He provided good information about local restaurants and places of interest. The apartment was very clean and comfortable with everything you might need. Great coffee machine!
What could be improved: NothingNice apartment in a great location. – Spencer from United States – 7 April 2025 (9/10)
Alain is a very considerate host. He met us and took time to explain not only everything in the apartment, but also made very good restaurant recommendations and attractions around the city. He also left a bottle of orange juice, a bottle of sparkling water and several cannele de Bordeaux which is the local pastry. The location couldn't be better. There are several bakeries within a block, lots of restaurants, a cheese shop, several sandwich shops, ice cream, etc. It's very close to the tram and very walkable. The bed is comfortable and there are tools for people that want to cook. We would happily stay again.
What could be improved: Nothing to complain about.Indeed a little a paradise in Bordeaux city center – Efthymia from United States – 24 February 2025 (10/10)
I am not going to write anything different than what people have already said: cozy clean beautiful apartment, excellent location, on a quiet alley and yet extremely central. For me it's an additional plus when a superb apartment comes with a very friendly and helpful host. Alain was one of the best hosts I have met. He greeted us upon arrival and told us about the history of the building. Also he shared with us all necessary info in advance, making our arrival as smooth as possible. The complimentary sparkling water, orange juice, coffee and tea were also very much appreciated. Bed mattress was on the firm side, which I really like. The decor was very warm and cozy.
I would certainly go back.
What could be improved: Not at all an issue for me, just to say the apartment has windows only in the living room/kitchen area. One can still get light into the bedroom through the big glass window overlooking the living room.Excellent location in a lovely, quiet apartment. – Donal from United Kingdom – 11 February 2025 (10/10)
