Hotel Description
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Les Terrasses de Louise on rue de la béchade – honestly, the street’s pretty quiet and residential, which actually turned out to be one of its biggest charms. This little 3-star place sits right in Saint Augustin, and I mean, you’re basically living like a local here instead of being stuck in some touristy bubble downtown. The building itself has that classic Bordeaux limestone look, nothing flashy, but there’s something really appealing about how it just fits into the neighborhood. What caught me off guard was how genuinely welcoming the staff was during check-in – not that overly polished hotel smile, but like they actually cared that I had a good stay.
The rooms are… well, they’re exactly what you’d want from a solid 3-star in France. Clean, comfortable beds (I’m picky about mattresses and slept great), and the bathrooms are properly updated without trying too hard to be trendy. Some rooms have these little terraces – hence the name, obviously – and if you can snag one, definitely do it. There’s something pretty magical about having your morning coffee while watching the neighborhood wake up. The WiFi actually works, which honestly can’t be said for every place in this price range, and the air conditioning was a lifesaver during that heat wave last summer. I will say the walls aren’t super thick, so if you’re a light sleeper, pack earplugs – though Saint Augustin is generally pretty quiet after 10 PM anyway.
Here’s the thing that really sold me on this place: the location is absolutely perfect if you want to experience Bordeaux without the tourist crowds. You’re a 15-minute tram ride from the city center (the Barrière Saint-Augustin stop is literally a 3-minute walk), but you’re also surrounded by actual Bordelais life. There’s this fantastic little bakery – Boulangerie Moderne – just around the corner where I grabbed croissants every morning, and the Saturday market on Place Saint-Augustin is where locals actually shop, not just tourists buying overpriced souvenirs. Plus, and this is huge if you’re driving, parking isn’t the nightmare it is in central Bordeaux. The hotel doesn’t have its own lot, but street parking is manageable and won’t cost you a fortune. Look, it’s not going to wow you with fancy amenities or Instagram-worthy lobbies, but Les Terrasses de Louise does exactly what a good neighborhood hotel should do – gives you a comfortable base to explore from, treats you well, and lets you feel like you’re actually staying in Bordeaux, not just visiting it.
Bordeaux’s hotels range from charming boutique properties in the historic city center to elegant châteaux converted into luxury accommodations in the surrounding wine country.

We drove to Bordeaux and stayed for 3 nights. The apartment car park was safe / secure, thereafter we used public transport as bus stop was a 2 minute walk or the tram which was a 15 minute walk. Apartment ideal for two and well equipped with the balcony ideal for breakfast. Wi-Fi also very good.
