Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Les Chambres de Marie? It’s tucked into this quiet residential street in Nansouty Saint-Genes that most tourists completely miss – and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it special. I mean, you’re still in Bordeaux proper, but it feels like you’ve stumbled into this peaceful neighborhood pocket where actual Bordelais live their daily lives. The building itself has that understated French elegance thing going on, nothing flashy, just solid and welcoming in a way that makes you feel like you’re staying at a well-traveled friend’s place rather than some corporate hotel chain.
Marie (yeah, there’s actually a Marie, and she genuinely cares about this place) has created something that punches way above its three-star rating. The rooms have this comfortable, lived-in quality – think carefully chosen vintage furniture mixed with modern touches that actually work. I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet it stays, even though you’re close enough to walk to the tram line on Cours de l’Argonne in about eight minutes. The breakfast situation is honestly better than places charging twice as much – proper local pastries, not the sad croissants you get at bigger hotels, and Marie always seems to know exactly how you like your coffee after the first morning.
Here’s the thing about the location that the booking sites don’t really capture – you’re in this sweet spot where you can walk to Parc Bordelais for morning runs (locals jog there around 7 AM if you want company), but you’re also just a quick tram ride from the city center when you want to hit the wine bars around Place du Parlement. The neighborhood has this authentic feel with the little épicerie on the corner and the boulangerie that does incredible pain au chocolat on weekend mornings. Parking can be a bit tricky – street parking fills up during the day, but Marie usually has good suggestions for spots that work. The 9.5 rating makes total sense once you spend a night or two there; it’s one of those places where everything just works without trying too hard, and you end up recommending it to people months later because it stuck with you in all the right ways.

The property was so nicely decorated, but the main highlight was Marie the owner. She is so kind and very helpful, always checking in to ask if we needed anything and to make sure we were okay + giving us tips for our time in Bordeaux!
What could be improved: It would’ve been great to have a few more appliances eg toaster but honestly it’s nothing negative enough to not let us stay again!!Exceptional – Harriet from United Kingdom – 3 July 2025 (10/10)

The room has such a good taste. I really liked the design of the room, bed linen, bright shower booth, cute espresso glassware, etc. The room is super clean, spacious and aesthetic. Communication went very smoothly as well, and the room is in a very quiet neighbourhood.
