Hotel Description
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Le Clos des Queyries on Rue André Degain – I mean, it’s tucked away in this quiet residential street in La Bastide that most tourists never even know exists. But the moment you step through those doors, you realize you’ve stumbled onto something pretty special. The whole place has this warm, lived-in elegance that you just can’t fake – think antique furniture that’s actually comfortable, not just pretty to look at, and rooms that feel like your sophisticated French aunt decorated them (if you’re lucky enough to have one of those).
What really gets me about this place is how the owners – and you can tell they’re hands-on people, not some corporate chain – have managed to create that perfect balance between authentic French charm and actually knowing what modern travelers need. The rooms are spacious enough that you’re not tripping over your suitcase every five minutes, and honestly, the beds are some of the most comfortable I’ve slept in anywhere in France. You know what I love? They’ve kept all these beautiful original details like the old wooden beams and stone walls, but then you’ve got proper WiFi and rainfall showers that actually work. It’s those little touches that show someone’s really thinking about the guest experience – like having good lighting for reading (seriously, why do so many hotels get this wrong?) and windows that actually open for fresh air.
The location is actually brilliant once you figure it out. Sure, you’re not right in the heart of the tourist madness around Place de la Bourse, but that’s exactly the point. La Bastide has become this cool, artsy neighborhood that locals love – there’s this fantastic morning market just a few streets over where you can grab proper coffee and pastries, and you’re literally a pleasant walk across the Pont de Pierre to get to all the main Bordeaux attractions. I actually preferred staying on this side of the river because evenings are so much quieter, and you get these incredible views of the old city lit up at night. Plus, parking is way easier here than in the city center – trust me on this one. The hosts genuinely know their stuff about Bordeaux too, not just the touristy wine tour recommendations but real insider tips about which bistros locals actually eat at and when to visit the markets. With a 9.7 rating, you’d expect it to be good, but this place really delivers on that promise without feeling stuffy or pretentious about it.
Early hotels booking in Bordeaux is essential during major events like the Wine Festival, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned vineyards and gastronomy.

The property is beautiful inside and out.
The location was good. While not in the historical downtown core it was a short walk to a Tram station ( Tram A ) which took us there in minutes.
Easy access parking.
The continental breakfast was excellent. All types of coffee included.
Our room ( Salinières Suite ) was spacious and very well appointed plus it looked onto the garden/patio area.
Sylvie, Sébastien and Ludmilla welcomed us and over beverages gave us an overview of the area and information on the historical downtown sites. Sylvie also recommended a restaurant Café Français right across from the cathedral which was excellent as well.
I don't think we have ever felt as welcomed at a place we have stayed at before. Truly memorable.Yasmina from France (10/10)
