Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about this place? The moment you step inside, you forget you’re basically in an apartment building on Rue des Faussets. I mean, the street itself is pretty typical Bordeaux – narrow, lined with those gorgeous cream-colored stone buildings – but this suite actually delivers on the “deluxe” promise, which honestly doesn’t always happen with these rental situations.
The space is genuinely large, like proper living room large, not just “large for Europe” large. The ceilings have that classic French height that makes you feel a bit grand, and there’s this beautiful herringbone parquet that creaks just enough to remind you you’re in a historic building (built in the 1800s, I think the host mentioned). What I loved most was how they managed to keep original details – the crown molding, these old-school shutters – while actually making it comfortable for modern travelers. The kitchen’s fully equipped too, which turned out to be perfect since we grabbed fresh bread from the boulangerie just around the corner on Rue Sainte-Catherine every morning.
Location-wise, you’re right in the thick of things without the chaos – and I say this as someone who’s stayed in louder spots near Place de la Bourse. You’re maybe a seven-minute walk to the tram (Hôtel de Ville stop), which connects you to basically everywhere you’d want to go. The wine bars along Rue des Bahutiers are practically next door, and honestly, that little stretch has some of the best low-key spots in the city. Parking can be tricky during the day – it’s mostly resident permits on the street – but there’s a public garage about three blocks away that’s not too expensive. One thing worth mentioning: the building entrance is pretty traditional (meaning old and heavy doors), and you’ll need to buzz up, but the host was really responsive about coordinating arrival times.
The 9-star rating makes total sense when you consider what you’re getting for a 3-star price point. I’ve stayed in actual hotels charging more that felt cramped and generic compared to this. Sure, you don’t get daily housekeeping or a concierge, but you do get character and space and that feeling like you’re actually living in Bordeaux for a few days rather than just visiting it. The neighborhood goes quiet around 10 PM, which was perfect for us, though if you’re looking to stumble home from late-night bars, you might want something closer to Place Saint-Pierre. But really, for couples or small families who want to experience Bordeaux like locals do – shopping at the market, cooking with regional ingredients, taking evening walks along streets that have looked basically the same for centuries – this place nails it.
Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Bordeaux through local agencies that offer personalized recommendations and insider knowledge about the best neighborhoods for exploring the city’s rich cultural heritage.

Stilvolles elegantes Appartement – Sandra from Germany – 15 July 2025 (8/10)
What could be improved: Uns hat fast alles gefallen und wir würden wieder kommen.
