Hotel Description
Honestly, I walked past La Loge du 12 three times before realizing this narrow townhouse on Rue des Faussets was actually my hotel. The entrance is so understated you’d think it was just another Bordeaux residence – which, I mean, it sort of was until they transformed it into this intimate 4-star gem. You’re right in the heart of the old city here, where the cobblestones are worn smooth and you can actually hear church bells from Saint-André Cathedral drifting through your window in the mornings.
What really got me was how they’ve kept all the original character while making everything feel completely modern. The ceilings are crazy high – like, 12-foot high with these gorgeous moldings that probably date back centuries – but then you’ve got rainfall showers and heated bathroom floors that’ll spoil you rotten. I stayed in October (honestly the best time to visit Bordeaux, before the wine harvest crowds thin out but while the weather’s still perfect), and my room had these massive French doors that opened onto a tiny juliet balcony. Nothing fancy, but perfect for morning coffee while watching the neighborhood wake up. The street’s quiet enough that you’re not dealing with traffic noise, but you’re literally a two-minute walk from Place du Parlement where all the wine bars cluster together.
The thing about staying here is you feel like you’re living in Bordeaux rather than just visiting it. There’s no lobby to speak of – just this elegant entrance hall with original tile work – and the staff treats you more like a guest in their home than a tourist checking boxes. They actually know the neighborhood, too. When I mentioned wanting to find a good wine shop that wasn’t touristy, the front desk guy (Jean-Paul, I think?) sent me to this tiny cave just around the corner on Rue Sainte-Catherine where the owner let me taste three different Margaux before I bought anything. You know what I mean? That’s the kind of local insight you can’t get from chain hotels. The only minor thing – and this is really minor – is that the elevator is one of those classic French lifts that fits maybe two people and moves like it’s contemplating each floor. But honestly, the staircase is beautiful and I needed the exercise after all that wine and cheese anyway. With a 9.1 rating, they’re clearly doing something right, and I get it. This place captures what makes Bordeaux special without trying too hard or charging Paris prices.

Reviews
You couldn't beat the location of this apartment, it was right in the heart of the action, yet very quiet once insid – Felicity from Australia – 19 July 2025 (10/10)
The location of the apartment is amazing. The building it is in, is full of charm and character. As per other reviews the stairs that lead up to the apartment are not for the faint hearted.
It didn't bother us but it might some.
The apartment itself is charming, clean and comfortable.
What could be improved: Unfortunately we stayed during a heatwave that was across parts of Europe, and because the apartment has no air conditioning it was extremely hot. Fans are provided but in our case they didn't really give much relief.
Having said that, I would stay again, it was just unfortunate that our 3 nights happened to be the peak of the heatwave.Beautiful flat in Bordeaux – Anja from Germany – 12 October 2024 (10/10)
Our short holiday in Bordeaux in this holiday flat was very nice. The flat has everything you need. Beautifully furnished, comfortable beds, super kitchen. The best thing about it is the view over the rooftops of Bordeaux. The location is also great, right in the centre and yet you can hear very little at night with the window open. Restaurants and cafés are just behind the front door. There is also a small, fine bakery and a Carrefour City. The tram can also be reached in 5 minutes. Many thanks to Ingrid, who gave us a very friendly welcome and farewell.
What could be improved: There is no such thing as not liking it in the flat. However, you should be able to climb stairs. There are 99 steps through a beautiful staircase to the flat. However, the landlady always points this out.
The ventilation in the bathroom unfortunately did not work, but will probably be repaired.Centrally located but not suitable for older guests due to steep stairs. – Pamela from Australia – 2 September 2024 (8/10)
Central location was very convenient.
What could be improved: When I asked if there was a lift or stairs, I was led to believe there was just one flight of stairs (no lift) and that the stairs we easy to walk up. When we got there, it turned out there were 4 flights of stairs (100 steps), plus 11 more very steep steps to get to 2nd bedroom.Stunning place! – Nazia from South Africa – 28 August 2024 (10/10)
Stunning, well-equipped clean apartment in perfect location!
What could be improved: They requested a €300 deposit in cash which is a bit annoying as we couldn't find ATMs anywhere nearby.excellent – Jonathan from United Kingdom – 25 August 2024 (9/10)

Very central location, brilliant facilities, washing machine, dishwasher, fans.Very comfortable beds, excellent shower. Terrific views. Very quiet & safe area to stay. Staff were very helpful & pleasant.
What could be improved: The only issue is unfortunately there are alot of steps up to the apartment totally unsuitable for individuals with disabilities or very elderlyLovely apartment and location. Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues as lots of stairs leading to apartment. Also – Susan from United Kingdom – 12 May 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: Very squeaky internal stairs that woke everyone up during nightWonderful property in amazing location – would definitely stay again – Annabel from United Kingdom – 9 May 2024 (10/10)
The location is perfect and so quiet for such a central location. I think in the summer it would probably get very hot in the flat, but for Spring it was perfect!
What could be improved: The lack of ventilation in the toilet
