Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about La King Le 50? It’s actually tucked into this gorgeous old building right on Cours Anatole France – and I mean right in the heart of Bordeaux’s serious business district, but somehow it feels completely removed from all that corporate energy once you step inside. The whole place has this sophisticated spa vibe that’s honestly pretty rare for a 4-star property. I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels that promise relaxation, but this one actually delivers on it.

The suites themselves are what really sold me though. They’re spacious in that European way where you’re not bumping into furniture every time you turn around, and the design hits this sweet spot between modern comfort and classic French elegance without feeling stuffy. The spa – which is really the star here – has this incredible indoor pool area that feels almost grotto-like, with soft lighting that makes you want to just float there for hours. I mean, after walking around Bordeaux’s cobblestone streets all day (and trust me, your feet will thank you for good shoes), sinking into their treatment rooms is pretty much heaven. The massage therapists actually know what they’re doing too, not just going through the motions like at some hotel spas.

What I really appreciate is the location – you’re literally a 10-minute walk from Place de la Bourse and all those postcard-perfect riverfront spots, but Cours Anatole France itself is surprisingly quiet at night. No drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re trying to sleep. The tram stops right nearby too, so getting to the wine regions or even just across town is dead simple. Check-in was smooth (they speak excellent English if your French is rusty), and the staff genuinely seems to care about whether you’re enjoying Bordeaux, not just whether you’re enjoying the hotel. The breakfast is solid – proper French pastries and good coffee, though it’s not cheap if it’s not included in your rate. One small thing: the elevators are a bit slow, but that’s pretty typical for these converted historical buildings. With a 9.4 rating, you’d expect excellence, and honestly? It delivers on that promise without feeling pretentious about it.

  Location is great with easy access to public transport just a few minutes walk away. This allows you to get round Bordeaux quickly and easily, especially if you buy a travel card.
  
  The apartment inside is spacious,modern with a well fitted kitchen, lovely furnishings and huge tv. The hot tub is a great touch too.
  
  The breakfast basket is also a lovely touch with a good variety of produce and cold items in the fridge.
  
  I would highly recommend staying here and we are planning the next trip back with the kids for the Christmas markets

  Tout était parfait : l'emplacement, la facilité d'accès au logement autonome, les équipements (dont une literie incroyable). Tout était préparé pour que nous puissions passer un séjour incroyable.
  Le jacuzzi était chaud et tournait, les peignoirs prêts,…
  Si vous souhaitez vous offrir une jolie parenthèse c'est LE lieu idéal.
