I was expecting just another converted apartment rental, but this place actually feels like you’re staying in someone’s thoughtfully curated home – if that someone happened to have impeccable taste and a thing for making guests comfortable. It’s tucked up on the fourth floor of this classic Bordeaux building on Rue Jean Jacques Rousseau, and honestly, the climb is worth it (though fair warning, there’s no elevator, so pack light or embrace the cardio).

The location is pretty brilliant if you know Bordeaux at all. You’re literally steps from Place du Parlement – I mean, you can practically roll out of bed and grab coffee at one of those tiny cafés that locals actually frequent, not just the tourist traps. The Saturday morning market at Marché des Capucins is maybe a ten-minute walk, and if you’re into wine (which, let’s be real, you’re in Bordeaux), the whole Chartrons district with its wine bars and négociant shops is right there. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night – Rue Jean Jacques Rousseau gets foot traffic during the day since it connects to the main shopping areas, but once evening hits, it settles down nicely. The thick walls of these old buildings help too.

The apartment itself feels more like staying with a stylish friend than a typical hotel experience. Margot (I assume that’s the owner’s name) clearly put thought into the details – the kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to cook, which came in handy when we grabbed fresh produce from the market. The bathroom’s small but well-designed, and the shower pressure is surprisingly good for an old building. I loved the mix of modern touches with the original architectural elements; those high ceilings and tall windows make the space feel much larger than it probably is on paper. The bed was genuinely comfortable too, which matters more than people think when you’re doing a lot of walking around the city. My only minor gripe is that the WiFi got a bit spotty in the evenings – probably everyone in the building streaming at once – but honestly, that forced us to actually go out and explore instead of falling into the Netflix trap. With a 9.2 rating, it’s clear other people have figured out what makes this place special, so book ahead if you can. It’s the kind of spot that makes you feel like you’re living in Bordeaux rather than just visiting it.

  The apartment is beautifully done, and you can't find a better location. Walking distance to everything in central Bordeaux, some great cafes just outside, and even a nearby parking lot if you have a car. Benedicte was super helpful and a wonderful host. Will definitely be going back!

  Loved loved loved this place! Such a great use of space and decorated so thoughtfully. Largest and most comfortable bed I have ever had in a rental property. Even the pillows were great! Excellent location with restaurants, shops, and a grocery store just half a block away. And Bénédicte was so kind and welcoming.

  Location, location, location! It could not be better than this one! the lady who manage the unit is very nice and helpful. We were blocked by traffic so I could not arrive on time to meet her. She waited for me at the unit until I got there. the unit is clean and it is decorated so cute. So many great restaurants near by. Sunday farmers’ market is wonderful and it is within walking distance from the unit. We really enjoyed our stay. I highly recommend this property.

  A great apartment where everything has been very well thought out. Comfy bed, good shower, Bluetooth speaker, great kitchen area with coffee supplies & roomy fridge with ice box. We visited during a heatwave and the aircon was brilliant-our Host had it on for us arriving & cold water in the fridge; wonderful thoughtful touches like this made it great.
