Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of aparthotels over the years, and IKO Bordeaux honestly surprised me in the best way. You know how these apartment-style places can feel a bit sterile? Well, this one actually has character. It’s tucked right on Rue de Marseille, which puts you smack in the city center without the tourist trap feeling – I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from Place Gambetta, but you’re staying where actual Bordelais live and work.

The apartments themselves are what sold me on this place. They’ve got this modern-meets-cozy thing going on that doesn’t feel forced. The kitchenettes are actually functional (shocking, I know), with real cooking equipment, not those sad mini-fridges and single burners you usually get. I ended up making coffee every morning instead of hunting for a decent café, though honestly, there’s a great little boulangerie just around the corner on Rue Judaïque if you want proper croissants. The beds are surprisingly comfortable – I’m picky about mattresses and slept better here than at some five-star places. What really got me was the attention to small details: good lighting for reading, enough outlets for all your devices, and windows that actually open properly for fresh air.

Here’s what I really appreciate about staying here – you feel like you’re living in Bordeaux, not just visiting it. The street has this nice residential buzz during the day, plenty of life but not chaotic. Evenings get pretty quiet, which is perfect if you’re planning to explore the wine bars around Saint-Pierre (about a ten-minute walk) and want to come back to somewhere peaceful. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area – there’s street parking but it fills up fast, so I’d recommend the Gambetta parking garage if you’re driving. The staff at IKO are genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions. They gave me solid restaurant recommendations that were clearly places they actually go to, not tourist spots with kickbacks. One thing to note – this isn’t a hotel with a fancy lobby and concierge service, but that’s kind of the point. You get your own space, your own rhythm, and the freedom to experience Bordeaux like you’re a temporary local rather than just another tourist checking boxes.

Bordeaux’s hotels range from charming boutique properties in the historic city center to elegant châteaux converted into luxury accommodations in the surrounding wine country.

Reviews

  • Beautiful apartment and great base for your stay in Bordeaux. Very accommodating hosts. – Florence from United Kingdom – 14 July 2025 (9/10)

It was a very nice clean and comfortable place to stay in a good location. Pauline and Alison were excellent at communicating access details and very accommodating for us to park and leave our car for a while on the day of our departure. It had good transport links into the city centre.

  • Bright airy apartment – Dare from United States – 27 June 2025 (9/10)

A wonderful property. We immediately felt comfortable in this very clean and bright apartment.

The two bedrooms were en suite with a complete bathroom in each one.

What could be improved: There was an issue with the washing machine but they let us use the one in the basement. We also thought we would be able to access Netflix and after two people came by we were told there was a confusion and our apartment was not Netflix accessible.

Other than these two issues we like the accommodation so much we booked it again for our one night return to Bordeaux before we fly home.

  • Superb – Ayeisha from United Kingdom – 21 June 2025 (9/10)

Beautiful spacious apartment, good transport links and very clean!

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Good – Gulter from Cyprus – 13 June 2025 (7/10)

The flat was okay. It was clean and comfortable.
its size was good for 2 people .

What could be improved: It was too far from the historical centre.
Both of the air-conditioners were too noisy, and it was not possible to sleep while they were on.
Bordeaux was very humid and very hot, and the staff, when we complained, asked us to put off the air-conditioning while sleeping!

  • Apartment OK, quite far from city centre. – Paul from United Kingdom – 8 June 2025 (7/10)

Apartment clean, comfortable. Nice balcony. Near bus stop although trip into city was quite long. Enjoyed the sights of Bordeaux

What could be improved: Appliances not working fully(coffee machine blocked and dishwasher tripped fuse in kitchen when we used it). On one occasion entrance door did not open and we were put through to a hotel reception desk when we telephoned the number given. Helpful to provide back up door code in property information as we were given it in message the next morning. Property further from city then we wpexpected

  • Excellent – Shuqi from France – 29 May 2025 (9/10)

The location is 30 minutes away from the Bordeaux train station, but well connected with a few bus lines. The apartment is spacious for 2 people, and hosts are very considerate to provide basic cooking ingredients: olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and salt and petter. They provide Nuxe products for hand, hair and body wash! Additional bonus is that they are pet friendly

What could be improved: Sometimes the bus ride can be a little scary with weird people

  • Superb – Chinedu from France – 16 April 2025 (9/10)

    Very spacious

What could be improved: Great location

  • Superb – Claire from Ireland – 23 February 2025 (9/10)

Great little apartment within walking distance of the centre of Bordeaux. Nice and clean and owners super responsive to our queries. We booked last minute and everything was seamless.

  • Relaxing – Pascall-louis from United Kingdom – 10 February 2025 (9/10)

Location was beautiful. Apartment was clean, had a coffee machine and kitchen facilities. The hosts were communicative and allowed us to check in early as we had an early flight and store our luggage at a sister hotel when we had a late flight.

  • It was short stay but it was really good – Leizel from France – 20 January 2025 (8/10)

    Clean
