Walking up to 26 Rue Huguerie, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a third-floor apartment setup – but this little gem completely changed my perspective on what a perfect Bordeaux stay looks like. The street itself is one of those narrow, cobblestoned beauties that locals actually use as a shortcut between the main shopping areas and the Garonne riverfront, so you’re right in the thick of things without being on some tourist-clogged boulevard.

The suite – and I mean, it really feels like a proper suite, not just a hotel room with a sitting area – has this lived-in elegance that’s hard to find in traditional hotels. The owner clearly knows Bordeaux well because everything you need is within a two-minute walk: there’s this incredible little bakery (Boulangerie des Grands Hommes) literally around the corner where locals queue up every morning, and honestly, waking up to the smell of fresh croissants drifting through the windows is worth the stay alone. What really impressed me was how quiet it stays at night – you’d think being in the city center would mean dealing with noise, but these old buildings have thick walls, and Rue Huguerie doesn’t get the late-night foot traffic that some of the main drags do. The whole space feels thoughtfully put together, like someone actually lives there part of the time rather than just throwing together generic hotel furniture. I particularly loved the little details – proper wine glasses (because, well, you’re in Bordeaux), a coffee setup that doesn’t make you want to cry, and windows that actually open wide enough to let in that gorgeous evening breeze from the river.

Here’s the thing that sold me completely: you can walk toPlace de la Bourse in about eight minutes, but you can also discover the real Bordeaux just by wandering your immediate neighborhood. There’s this wine bar, Le Flacon, two streets over that doesn’t show up in guidebooks but where you’ll find locals debating vintages until midnight. And parking – God, parking in Bordeaux can be a nightmare – but there’s actually decent street parking nearby if you’re driving, though honestly, you won’t need a car once you’re here. The tram stop at Place du Palais is close enough that you can easily get out to the newer districts or catch connections to the wine regions. I mean, the whole experience just felt effortless in a way that’s rare when you’re staying somewhere new. By the third day, the woman at the corner tabac was greeting me like a regular, and that’s when you know you’ve found a place that gets the balance right between comfort and authentic local living.

  L'emplacement : quartier Tourny à 10 min du centre de Bordeaux avec toutes les aménités urbaines à disposition. La chambre est très spacieuse et très confortable. La literie est très confortable et il y a la clim.
  Excellent rapport qualité : prix.
  Accès facile 24/24 avec un code et une boîte à clés.

  What could be improved: L'eau chaude très longue à venir. 3 ampoules ne fonctionnaient pas dont les 2 au-dessus des lavabos.
