Hotel Indigo Bordeaux Centre Chartrons, an IHG Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Hotel Indigo Bordeaux Centre Chartrons, an IHG Hotel, you immediately get that this isn’t your typical chain property. The lobby has this cool industrial-meets-boutique vibe that perfectly captures the Chartrons district’s character — you know, that trendy neighborhood where old wine warehouses have been transformed into galleries and design studios. The staff actually seems to know the area well, which honestly makes a huge difference when you’re trying to figure out where to grab dinner or find the best wine bars.
Location & Neighborhood
The Chartrons area is where Bordeaux locals go when they want to feel hip without the tourist crowds of the old town. You’re literally steps from the antique markets on Rue Notre-Dame, and the tram stop right outside makes getting to the historic center ridiculously easy. What I love about this spot is that you can walk to the Garonne riverfront in about three minutes — perfect for those evening strolls along the water. The couples who stay here seem to get it; they’ve rated the location 9.3, and I mean, when you see how close you are to both the wine museum and some seriously good bistros, it makes sense.
The Room Experience
The room design is where Hotel Indigo really shows its personality. Each floor has a different theme inspired by local Bordeaux culture, so you might get wine-inspired artwork or nods to the city’s maritime history. The beds are comfortable (not groundbreaking, but solid), and the bathrooms are modern with decent water pressure — honestly, sometimes that’s all you need after a day of wine tasting. The windows are well-insulated too, which matters because Parvis des Chartrons can get a bit lively on weekend evenings.
Breakfast & Dining
Breakfast here is actually impressive for a four-star property. They’ve got everything from continental basics to full English options, plus they’re really good about dietary restrictions — vegan, gluten-free, the works. The buffet setup is well-organized, and if you’re rushing to catch an early train, they’ll do breakfast to go. There’s no full restaurant on-site, but honestly, you’re in Chartrons — some of Bordeaux’s best casual dining is right outside your door.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it feels authentically connected to Bordeaux rather than just dropped into it. The location score of 9.3 isn’t just about convenience — it’s about being in a neighborhood that actually has character. You’re close enough to walk to the major sights but far enough from the cruise ship crowds to feel like you’re experiencing the real city. The staff knows their wine (this is Bordeaux, after all) and can point you toward smaller producers and tasting rooms that most visitors miss. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra night just because you’ve found your rhythm in the neighborhood.

We didnt have breakfast. Our room was quite large and comfortable. Public areas in the lobby were small but reception seemed to work ok and the staff were efficient. The location was fantastic however.

Great location with the tram stop nearby or a short walk to the centre. Rooftop restaurant/bar was a nice place to end our evenings with a drink overlooking the river.

I though we would have views down the river.
